HU UK Mini-Meeting March 4 in London

Ken and Toni Butler have generously offered to host a HU Mini-meeting on March 4 at their flat in London.

Here's what they wrote:
The house will be open to Horizons members and close friends from 18:00 on Saturday the 4th of March. Some snacks will be provided however each attendee is required to bring their own drinks and chip in 3 to 5 pounds toward pizza's (or some other high quality home delivery meal). A brief presentation shall be given by Bernie Wright on the 2006 Dakar race where he worked as mechanic for Nick Plumb - Bernie works as BMW bike specialist and is interested in RTW travel.

Maps of most Asian areas and Morocco shall also be available for viewing along with PC's and a large digital TV. Anyone with a brief digital presentation would be most welcome to use the equipment.

As we are soon to ride our BMW R80 and R100GSs to Morocco and later Vladivostok via Mongolia it would be great to hear of others experience with the bikes and areas. There is plenty of available parking for bikes, however limited car parking close by. Smokers will be asked to smoke outside and all visitors will be asked to leave by 11:30.

The address:

9C Underwood Street,
Islington, N17LY
London

5 minutes walk from the Old Street Tube station.

RSVP here please to give us some idea of numbers.

Susan and I will be there, so hope to see you there!

Grant and Susan

This was a highly successful and relaxed evening, with a very interesting talk about the realities of Paris -Dakar from Bernie. Lots of video images to see, of North African desert regions.

Praise is due to Ken and Denis who, when Tim missed his footing and stumbled against the wall, moved very quickly to save an Oriental print and a large digital TV from damage. Clearly they assessed that Tim, being an experienced person, would do a self-rescue.

Our thanks to Ken and Toni who will soon be off to Morocco for a preparation trip before going to Russia.
Good roads!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
