Northern Mini Meet...

Just a quick note to let all you northern riders that Chris Bright, Jasper Ditton, and I are having a quiet 'gathering' a pub in the Northern Peaks/East Manchester (venue to be decided....suggestions?) area on the 13th March. It will probably be an early evening 'do', and I'll probably be stopping for food if I can. If anyone is interesed keep an eye on this thread and we'll post a location in the next week or so.

Alternatively if this is your home stomping ground and you want to suggest a location that'd be great too!!

Hope to see a few of you a bit sooner than the Summer. All the best,

Dave Lomax

Would like to come along but 13 march is a monday - work etc cant travel all that way North Northumberland to Manchester for a few hours - could you not make it a fri or sat and maybe a country pub with camping.
I just ran a little meet for 10 - 15 lads like that at The Lion Inn Blakey Ridge North Yorks last month great food, beer and conversation. Stayed just the sat night camping £2.50 made it easy for those to come a bit further. Strangers who are now mates great way to meet new folk.

chris 28 Feb 2006 19:14

Monday 13th March is definitely happening.

Having said that, I'd certainly enjoy meeting/camping somewhere in the North. Any suggested weekend dates and locations? Maybe during April?

What do people think?
Cheers
Chris Bright

I will look into something for April. The pub I mention above is nice But also there are several great venues in the Borders that might strike up some interest.

davidlomax 1 Mar 2006 12:52

I can always be persuaded! Just name a date and I'll bring at least one more!

Dave

mustaphapint 1 Mar 2006 13:55

Are there any suggested venues for this meeting yet? Would the Glossop area be a good suggestion or were you thinking of further North or nearer the Manchester suburbs?

Pevrilito 1 Mar 2006 15:45

Greetings all - just thought I'd throw in my keen-ness to attend.

Don't particulalry mind where - just keep us posted when a decision's made

:-)

chris 1 Mar 2006 18:04

I have begun a new thread at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000055.html to discuss an April Mini Camping weekend in the North. So if you're keen on something like that, leave a message there.

Cheers
Chris

Glossop area sounds good, although I was thinking of a little further north around Hollingworth. There are some pretty cool pubs around there and its mid way between Chris and I. Would that area be OK for people?

Dave

mustaphapint 2 Mar 2006 17:54

Hollingworth is OK with me. There is that quite large pub next to the lake which is quite popular with bikers on a Sunday. Sorry can't remember the name.

davidlomax 3 Mar 2006 17:43

I cant remember the name either but that'd do! I'll go check it out this weekend and post the name on Sunday!

Cheers guys,

See you in a few weeks,

Dave

That's the one I was thinking of.

Anyone need a lift from the Manchester area? I think we have one space in the car.

I think it will be nearer 7:30 before we can get there. It's quite a trek from Derbyshire, especially in rush hour traffic!
We will be planning on eating as well though.

shaggy 4 Mar 2006 22:10

Dude,

Can I have a lift????

ta,

jim

davidlomax 7 Mar 2006 22:15

Jim,

Many apologies for not returning your email, poor show I know. I had assumed you would be coming with us and meant that there was another place not including You, Jasper, and Me...

So, one more place available if it needs to be, also I'll plan to arrive a luittle later than 6:30 so that we can all eat together at 7:30, OK with everyone?

Dave

chris 7 Mar 2006 22:18

Fine with me.

Hopefully (weather pewrmitting) a couple of us will be riding down from N.Yorks.

Phil

mustaphapint 13 Mar 2006 00:42

So maybe the rest of you may know each other, but we don't. I take it we're not planning on wearing pink carnations. So if you see a couple of lost travellers wandering around with black jackets with Rainy City on the back, that's us, so please say hello.

davidlomax 13 Mar 2006 15:00

Will do! Just look for a bald bloke and miserable git......then you can decide which is Chris and which is me ;-) !

See you tonight!

Dave

davidlomax 13 Mar 2006 23:33

ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

Ok problems, one of the guys I work for has just informed me that his uncle recently bought the Fishermans Arms and turned it into a posh Italian Restaurant.....OOOPS!!!

Probably too late for anyone to read this if they are going but the new venue is:

The Rake Inn, Blackstone Edge Old Road, Littleborough, OL15 0JN
01706 379 689

If you go to the Fishermans Arms there will be maps and direction available to take you the 1.5 miles to the new spot where there is food and beer waiting!!! You can also find my phone number with the directions!

Cheers,

Dave

Glynn Roberts 14 Mar 2006 03:22

Weather forecast was a little rough for me to travel up there for the evening - maybe next time
Roi, think about coming to the meeting in June

davidlomax 14 Mar 2006 03:47

All ok, I think everyone who wanted to come picked up a 'change of venue' leaflet at the old 'Fishermans'! The food was good and cheap, the beer was decidedly drinkable and the new pub was small and log fired. The weather definately sucked so all you folks thinking of riding there, see you on the 23rd of April for a longer chat, three hours is never enough to get to know each other and ask really pertinent questions.

See you all soon for a weekend!

Dave

mustaphapint 14 Mar 2006 14:14

And a good evening was had by all. A pleasant way to spend a winter evening. Excellent choice of venue. Keeping our options open for the camping weekend as it does clash with something else we had planned, but definitely see you all at the main event in June.

Bernard 14 Mar 2006 23:48

It was good to meet you folks. I enjoyed your company. See you in April,

shandydrinker 15 Mar 2006 23:56

Hi, sorry I/we couldn't make it, weather looked too uncertain to venture over there on a bike!

Hopefully catch you at the Northern meet - only about 15 miles away!!!

Phil

Roi 16 Mar 2006 05:24

Hi! Bernard an DaveLomax dont know any bods yet but would like to know where you having nxt meeting. Thanks.

davidlomax 16 Mar 2006 12:35

There are two events coming up. One is a weekend meeting on the third weekend in April, were heading for a pub on the North York Moors, come for a day or a weekend. Have a look at the post next to this one for info, the second is this years biggie, the Horizons Main 'do'. You'll find details of that also in this area of the forum, I think its in June.......but I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

Look forward to meeting you at one of them!

Dave

Grant Johnson 16 Mar 2006 17:21
