I'll be there... Maybe try and get Thursday off too and help you set up if you need the help. I've also got a lot of seasoned timber if you're short of firewood ??

At the moment on my current work schedule, I am at sea during the meet .
There's a lot happening in the company I work for, downsizing, laying up 4 ships, redundancies and firings going on at the moment, I honestly don't know if I will be kept on or not - not really worried, at 58 I am ready for a few shifts in B & Q and do some serious touring .
Would lve to go down to Danny's place again, i will just have to wait and see.

Crikey Jake sounds a bit grim mate, plan B sounds good though!

Been dodging a few curve balls myself, back at the coalface, even time roster and home every night ;-) Found some well above par Hazelnut Schnapps for those chilly nights, when one staggers a tad too far from the fire ;-)

Looking forward to catching up if you manage it.

Hi just booked on this. Will be my first HUBB event. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Pick up bike this weekend, so never ridden off the pavement at all.
(Apart from one day trials bike riding).

Wink Methane Forest?

Crazy Dave, the methane forest is a small section of the campsite hidden in the trees well away from the main body of the campsite and the bunkhouse where the pampered softies stay LOL.

It was given this name in an affectionate manner on the morning after the first meet when several diehards who had camped there (all male) noticed a blueish (possibly light brown) haze above the trees. We decided it was created by the effects of mass over consumption of curry, Guinness and what ever local brew we could get our hands on. You can use your imagination to work out what caused the haze which had disappeared by the time the sun had been out for an hour or so followed by a soft breeze. Unfortunately it was even worse on the Sunday morning. ( some people, me included, just never learn)

Jake 950 will probably never forgive me, Seisobs, Touring Ted and Darwinite for the snoring which in his words was like "sleeping with your head in a beehive". My advice, camp on the hill which has glorious scenery and excellent pitches or bring earplugs, some air freshener and a gas mask and join us troglodyte's in the "forest. Either way it is one of the best mini meets in the UK. I cannot recommend or praise it highly enough and much Kudos to Danny and all concerned for the effort they collectively put into it.

This thread complete with photos should explain all.

Hopefully have the old airhead back together by then so count me in. Haggs Bank is a fantastic venue and in my book these mini meets are far superior to the totally OTT Donington meeting...and no planes (well not too many anyway!)

Hope the airhead comes together Dennis. Thoroughly concur with your sentiments. My coping strategy at Donington was to not spend any money at the venue and be self sufficient as well as hang out at Danny's fire and enjoy the chat with old and new mates in addition to watching the bands.

Bikerden, that's why we do different kinds of events - everyone is different and has different preferences There were a lot of people at Donington who had a GREAT time - even Chris did it seems So viva la difference, and we hope you have a great time at Haggs Bank!

Sorry guy's can't make it, , working in the Gulf of Mexico, I come off the boat 31st July then go back on 5 weeks later (4th Sept until 2nd October).
Intend having some weekends away touring Scotland this coming break, I know a lot of great places / campsites to go to if anyone is interested.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
