Anybody knows this petrol can? (Ripley 2011)

Hey Guys,

my father made this photo at the UK HU Meeting last year:

Does anybody know where i can get this partol can, what's the volume of it?
Can't find anything similar (flat!) in Germany.

I'm also interested in the toolbox, a link would be great :thumbup1:

Thanks
Moritz

I've seen similar fuel cans for sale in ship's chandlers

Wow! good hints,
looks like the Rotopax are difficult to get in germany,
lets see what they want for shipment.

I also checked Pumpy's page, she got hers from an online marine chandler.
Going to check that as well.

thanks to all of you!

The can is a Mailspeed marine 5L can. I've got one - excellent. Get them at Chandlers or at an outlet in Sussex. I have to get one next week for Georgide e, so if you want one, PM me and I'll get you one too. :thumbup1:

These cans look excellent - well worth a look!

Not wanting to de-rail the post, but what are the best ways to attach this tube to the bike? How do people keep them secure?

Linzi 6 Feb 2012 13:38

Tube Fixture.

Hi, the flat plates have one hole each, one of them oval. Thus nut and bolt is the answer, but they're really made to attach to a flat surface making mounting to a tube a bit harder. The cap has a long thread and rubber o-ring, so is not secure against unwanted entry at all. A bar accross the top of the cap would prevent it being unwound. Lindsay.

Hallo Moritz,

The only thing I would say about these flat fuel canisters is that they are supposed to be stored somewhere dark with little movement - not on a bike ridden in the blistering sun on the corrugated 'roads' of South America, for example...

They normally take five litres but after being unable to remove the bloated can from the snug fit of Possu's fabulous luggage rack, I had to dump one litre.

Still, having four litres more may save you from a night in the bushes and get you to the next human settlement; it certainly gave me peace of mind... :mchappy:

Good luck!
