Advanced Riding Presentation
At this years gathering at Lumb Farm, I will at some point be giving a presentation based around Advanced Riding (On Road only) principles. I could quite easily put together a set presentaation of what I think might be useful, but I got to thinking that maybe the audience should determine the content.
So, If anyone has any topics they would like to suggest, then I will see what I can come up with. I do intent the presentation to have plenty of audience participation.

Most courses are country specfic. The 'expected behaviour' changes from country to country - and riding (or driving) contary to the expectation is dangerous. Leaving a braking spact may be technically "safe" but when it produces anger and idiocy by the other 'road' users you're better off conforming to the "expected behaviour". EG "Filtering" in the USA may produce firearm responces.

Filtering is when you filter in between lanes of slow moving or stationary traffic.

Normally done to get past traffic at lights or when slowed by an accident or other obstruction. So you'd keep a lane of traffic on your left and right, effectively driving along the lane seperating white lines.

In the UK it's legal.

You may now have to explain what a 'lane' is, and why only one vehicle may occupy it width ways!

I love those GP starts at the traffic lights in Asia. Lights turn red - traffic banks up against the light - all the way across the road (both sides) - when the light turn green they all take off and merge into the correct side before hitting there opposing side. Highly entertaining.

Observation/road positioning, cornering, riding in the wet/on ice/on snow.

The presentation is going to be a fairly informal affair with (hopefully.!!!!) a good deal of input from those attending, so there is no script of any sorts. Instead I have several topics which will deal with the fundamental elements of Advanced Riding.

I also do Bar Mitzvah's, weddings, christenings and funerals....at extortonate rates...

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
