Ace Cafe Overland Adventure Day Feb 20th 2011

Having missed the 2010 event and only today read through most of the thread thinking I was reading about the 2011 event I figured it was time to ask the question. Who is planning to be at the Ace Cafe on Sunday 20th Feb 2011?

We will!

Look for a Blue Versys next to a cool Aprilia Shiver!

I will be there as well with my trusty travel companion - and I'll bring my wonderful personal mechanic, too, in case you have any questions about the modifications...

Thumbs up I'll be there...

I'll be there on my 650 DAKAR, now with a silver beak and home grown tail...

I am intending to turn up, just waiting to see if leave has been granted for it save me rushing to get back home to start work.
I know a number of people from the Adventure Bike Rider Forum are going & suspect some of you are like me on a number of forums, as well

I will be on a red Bandit 1250

Hopefully see you all there

Birgit and I will be there too. Looking forward to it. Think Mark Manley, Dave Pape, Mon Pape, Elspeth Beard and Paul Blezard are coming too. And I think that some of the guys from SE Biker magazine will be there.
See you then : )

And who's the scooterer?

Please, yes please.

The day gets the thumbs up (although maybe not the hat)

The day in pictures -

Possu already tucked into his (second...) breakfast, while Strobingred was still wondering if his jacket could bear the strain...

GreatScott with his pride and joy

From left to right: Seasoned RTW traveller Mark Manley introduced me to Alun Davies, publisher of Adventure Bike Rider, and Lancastermick presented his friend who's doing lots of endurance stuff but whose name escapes me right now, sorry...

On the right we have SE Rider Chris - without Erika this time who didn't get her priorities right today (apparently she had to work... )

Buying some more bling, Strobingred? Remind me, how much did you offer us for not telling Bev?

After over eight months of trying we finally made contact - Women Trail Riders UK Ruth and Julie (with brother Steven)

Don't look so grumpy, Possu, just let Desert Rat have the vampire skull-graphics from your 690 if it makes him happy...

It was a tad chilly today, wasn't it, Riderbob?

Iain Harper, the man who taught me everything I ever wanted to know about travel-blogs...

Terry, Denny (Diehard) and Mark revelling in past and future travels

I had the pleasure to meet Andreas Hülsmann, journalist, photographer and author of many great motorcycle travel books and articles (especially in the German 'Tourenfahrer', the best touring magazine on the market, in my humble opinion) and Robert Wicks, author of the Haynes guides for the Motorcycle Adventurer

MostlyHarmless Noel on the mighty DRZ...

Lolgeoff and SkyGod, who briefly stopped by at the Ace on his way to the hairdresser's...

Mark and Birgit working hard selling Sam's books...

... while His Manicomship busies himself chatting to RTW travellers Dee and Colin Masters...

Last but not least - Marcin arrived rather late...

Overland travellers in the making: Joy (Italy), Martin (Morocco) and Pete

The boys from James Cargo: Steve, another happy customer (I am one as well!), Giles and Roddy

Good turnout, great chats with old and new friends, and lots of useful information - thanks, guys!

Ela

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
