We'd love to be there ourselves but can't, so please take lots of pictures and have a GREAT time!

Senno 17 Jul 2012 14:58

This sounds great and I'd love to go but can't commit to it yet. Realistically, does this get booked up fast or am I still liable to be able sign up nearer the date? I get the impression it's a smaller affair than Ripley

Great work anyway :thumbup1:

Grant Johnson 18 Jul 2012 05:34

Yes it's much smaller than Ripley, but there is a limit on the numbers. We are expecting/hoping to be under the limit, so while there's no immediate panic, don't hang about either! :)

Senno 18 Jul 2012 06:50

Thanks Grant; I know you're very busy but if it's filling up very fast perhaps you or another organiser could pass by and mention it here, so those of us lagging can get our skates on :)

McCrankpin 18 Jul 2012 12:42

Will it have stopped raining by then? :stormy::rain: Purrleeeezze!

I heard on the radio that a heatwave is one the way. Probably have been and gone by then

If we look like filling up we'll do our best to let you know - the weak spot / reality is simple though; we don't check numbers daily, so it might be a couple of weeks before we notice - and then there may not be much warning, so keep a close eye on this thread - best to subscribe to it!

Senno 18 Jul 2012 22:16

Way ahead of you there pardner :cowboy:

I've set my options to auto-subscribe every thread I participate in :mchappy::smartass:

Will check my subscribed list every day. Thanks in advance :thumbup1:

Hi Sennen, I went for the first time last year and really enjoyed it. Do go if you can wangle it. The Mendip area (if you don't know it) is quite beautiful with some great minor roads to ride and the coast isn't that far away either. There's a very nice atmosphere about the Meet, but then, it's HU isn't it :mchappy: I'm actually feeling a bit gutted at the moment. I already know I can't go. I'm booked to be riding in Spain - shame - thought I'd got my dates right :rolleyes2: Good excuse for not making it though eh. Anyway, hope you do manage to get to it. You'll not regret it I'm sure.
Cheers,
Sam

Senno 22 Jul 2012 01:51

Hi Sam
Hope you're recovered from Ripley. :rain::stormy:

The Autumn meet does sound great esp. as I missed Ripley this year, and yes I used to tootle around that area years ago so know it's a bit special. :)

Really hope to be able to make it, but just can't commit yet as the dates could go awry. Hope there's still places left once I'm sure.

And shame you won't be there, would have been nice to meet up again. But I'm sure riding around Spain will have it's moments...:)

See you around!

zx7rev 4 Aug 2012 14:51

Hi
Well, I've registered, booked, paid and volunteered to help with setting up.
I was wondering, though ... if I turn up for wednesday morning, (as the form said setting up will be from wednesday 10.30am), wether I can camp on site from this day?
Also ... I'll be riding down from Sheffield, wednesday morning, if any others are going this early, from ooop north, and fancy joining me.

Trev

Zen Overland 6 Aug 2012 18:08

Site only open from Friday, setting up starts Thursday...

Trev,

Thanks very much indeed for volunteering to help, it make all the difference to have some folks giving a hand, especially with set-up and taking down.

I'm afraid there was a bit of a typo on the form that you saw, as setting up on-site only starts Thursday evening.
If you're involved in volunteering than you're welcome to stay on site with us Thursday night, but please don't arrive before Thursday evening.

In the unlikely event that no one is allowed to stay on site Thursday night, you can stay at our place in Wells.

I'll email you now and will include phone numbers to get hold of us.
Any questions, do call.

Cheers
Gabe & Char
(Newly wed!)

Senno 7 Aug 2012 05:10

Congrats to Gabe and Char on their recent nuptials. :D

Hope to see you guys in a few weeks, though still ain't been able to book due to clashing commitments so don't actually know if I'll make it doh :helpsmilie:

Harty 11 Aug 2012 15:03

Grant Johnson 11 Aug 2012 18:25

kaplan 27 Aug 2012 10:31

I see online booking has closed now. Can we pay for the meal package at the gate, or do I need to fill my panniers with snacks?!! Looking forward to the event really enjoyed last years.:thumbup1:

Zen Overland 27 Aug 2012 12:33

limited meals available without pre-booking

kaplan,

Glad you had a good time last year, and hopefully this year will be even better.
There will be some additional meal packages available for purchase at the event, so provided you don't arrive too late, you will be catered for.

In fact I'll reserve you a meal package now, just let the folks on the reg desk know what the arrangement is.

Look forward to seeing you there.

kaplan 27 Aug 2012 13:26

Thanks Gabe, see you Friday..

Senno 27 Aug 2012 15:32

As I feared, can't make this after all, hope you guys have a great time :D

Cheers Bonniebird, it has been hard work I tell thee!
Plenty of kind folk helping out makes all the difference though, thanks to all the volunteers that are giving their time to make the event happen.

MEZ 30 Aug 2012 22:37

All packed and ready to hit the road around three-ish. Sending up an advance party in the form of a rather tall lady to pitch up and start the ball rolling. Sorry that I will be turning up on my recently demoted fave bike (the GS), I was dying to rock up on the "Trip" XL that nearly got me to India...!! Good to see another Cornish contingent heading Mendip way Rossi..!! Looking forward to this event immensely Gabe,

Cheers Mez ( ....and Anna ) :thumbup1:bier

Unless there is competition with prizes to be won and livelihoods to earn, no motorcycle is ever unsuitable for anything!
You rode those lanes with the rest of us, and your bike was a catalyst that brought the group together, generating great camaraderie and interest.
What other bike that morning was made in the 50s and had just returned from the Stella Alpina?

Here's a photo which I hope conveys the spirit of the moment.

Fantastic weekend

Gabe, Char, thanks for a fantastic weekend. It was great to just chill and do nothing but relax and gab to people for a few days:thumbup1:. It is large enough to lose yourself if you want and small enough to be intimate and chat and still have stuff to hold your interest. Hope the event is on for next year and looking forward to it.

Glenboy 4 Sep 2012 15:41

What a fantastic weekend. Well done to Char and Gabe and all the team - it takes a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure everything works so smoothly. It's in my calendar for next year so it better be on again! Big thanks guys.

Hi, everyone, first, thanks to Gabe and Char but especially you all for being there, a really relaxed and nice place to be, looking foreward to the next one. Fantastic weekend, with a really good rideout and certainly an iron man achievement for determination out there:D. Sad that I couldnt get there until later on Fridaybeer but gotta pay the bills somehow. Glad I was on the SR40 as on the way back from work Monday evening my DRZ400 gearbox went (well something did and now theres a hole in my crank:oops2:.
Was really nice to see some familiar faces again, and some really good presentations too, excellent weekend all round, Thanks to all.

Mendip 2013 not on.

I've had a couple of queries re Mendip 2013, and sorry to say there won't be one. We (all) have limited bandwidth and it's just too much this year. We will revisit it for 2014.

greenmanalishi 1 Mar 2013 17:39

Cancelled

Sorry to hear that Grant:(, it was a brilliant weekend. I look forward to the 2014 one.
