10TH Lumb Farm Ripley Meeting 2010

The 10th Horizons Unlimited Meeting, Lumb Farm, Ripley, Derbyshire, UK

Its once again taking place over the weekend of 24 - 27th June 2010, Thursday to Sunday. A week later than last year.
Costs are £30.00 for the whole weekend, if you register AND pay before the end of December 2009. £50.00 if you leave it too late! Registration is open now and we already have over 100 folk registered and paid.
This includes 3 nights camping and entrance to all the presentations and demonstrations. You don't have to camp, though there is no reduction in the price, a list of nearby accommadation can be found on the website/google.

We are now accepting applications from presenters for putting on a show, it can be on any bike related travelling topic. Last year we had our most diverse range of topics ever, with some fantastic shows and knowledgable talks.
To help planning the event we need your application forms in early, before Friday 30th April 2010.
Over the weekend we have around 40 presenters putting on over 50 shows! Check out the range of topics here
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/meetings/UK2010.php

We are also looking for volunteers as usual! We had an excellent crew last year doing a range of activities - gate - registration - I.T. - recycling etc, this year we'll need some folk with some cooking skills too, to help out with Dannys 'Roadkill Demonstation'
It takes over 60 volunteers to put on the meeting and this year we'll need a few more. Sam Manicom (full time author and journo) organises the volunteers and can be contacted here if you feel you can help out in any way.
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/meetings/volunteers/

We'd like to continue offering the rideouts this year. We have no problem in filling up the spaces but always struggle to find rideout leaders. If you can help in any way or know someone who wants to lead one please get in touch with me via the website and I'll explain all.

More details here,

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/mee...2010.php#hosts

or click on the left hand side under Events for other meetings around the world.

Questions Anyone?

See you soon

wood party in feb/march

hi all
Its that time of year again to start getting the wood ready for the rally fire so instead of a few of us struggling if anybody wants to help we can make a weekend of it ,There is camping room in the garden floor space in the house hot showers and some good stews to eat and the possibilty of a few drinks , We will have to pick a dry weekend at the end of feb or into march for saftey reasons so im not sure how much notice can be given. If you fancy a dirty weekend in the country contact me here or email me on manybikesdanny at aol ddddoot com

Thanks Danny

ktmmark, you're not alone! Registrations are coming in fast!

We have about 50 presentations/tech seminars booked already, lots of new ones, and lots of old favourites too.

The whole Meeting Team has been working hard on improvements, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the upgrades and improvements, from more toilets to EARLY opening showers (7am) and another room to hang out in, more vendors, and more room for camping.

You'll also be able to see what's going on MUCH better in the tyre changing demo!

If you haven't registered yet, get in and get it done, you don't want to miss the 10th Anniversary Event!

See you there!

Grant

Update

The provisional timetable should be posted on the website (UK Meetings page) in a week or so but I'll also post a link here for it too.

We are just about full for presenters, a couple of slots Thursday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday morning - We have over 100 shows of varying kinds over the weekend.
Cut off date for applying for a presentation is this week. If you're gonna do it, do it now.

Over 500 folk have registered so far! And still 2 months to go... we are sure to sell out again this year. And more trade space taken than we've had before - its all looking pretty good!

We of course are still looking for a few more volunteers to be part of the team - lots of different tasks - full details from Sam Manicom here
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/meetings/volunteers/

New for this year will be the bike show on Saturday afternoon - prizes for most stickered, most unsuitable, etc etc... entry is on the day - details at the reg tent.

mm would love to come but as my company has just changed our rota, & i am still waiting for it!
I can then see if i can make it but must admit £50 is going to hurt but would still pay.

Over 500 people already? Wow, this is going to be huuuuuge!
We're still planning to arrive on June 23 late in the evening, coming straight from summer solstice on the Shetlands. Can't wait!

Hi All,
Brilliant!!!! It's all coming together beautifully. I can't wait for us to get to the 24th of June. What an excellent range of presentations and the number of adventure travel companies coming along is terrific.

As for the volunteers, I'm delighted that so many people have put their names forward to help out. At this time last year we were still 23 people short of the total 65 volunteers we needed. This year we are just 7 people short. Fantastic!! But if you haven't put your name down to help yet, and feel like mucking in for a few hours, please do get in touch with me. Oh and, you know, a much larger than normal percentage of people who have volunteered to help to date, have never been before. I think that's b****y good stuff. Thanks all!

We still need 2 people to help with the Digi Tech side of things. This role is vital as many of the presenters are standing on a stage for the first time.:confused1: When the tech side of things runs smoothly then their job is just that much less nerve wracking. So, if you know your way around PCs, digital projectors, powerpoint and the like, I'd really like to hear from you. This is a great job as you get to watch loads of the presentations from one of the best seats in the house.

We are short of 2 people for the Gate Crew. We have all been to a rally somewhere for the first time, where we knew no one and didn't know where anything was. The Gate Crew's job is to make every person arriving and to help them settle in to a great weekend. One of the best things about this job is that its a brilliant way to meet people. There's no rocket science involved. But the ability to smile, and mean it, is vital.

We are short of someone to help out with the recycling. We are making a real effort to get this right this year. And so we should! So far we have a crew of three people lined up but one more would make this crew complete.

And finally, we could do with some volunteers to muck in with general setting up on Thursday morning. So, if you are getting there early and feel like helping with laying out chairs, hanging some posters or popping into town for that oh so important piece of equipment that's needed at the last minute, then please get in touch.

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/meetings/volunteers/

Looking forward to seeing you all in a few weeks. Many thanks again to everyone who has already voluntered to help.
Cheers for now,
Sam

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
