Oh no! I was planning on asking a few people at Ripley if they wanted to go with me next year!

Any plans to sell the trails on DVD or as a Road Book after this year's event?

Sorry - but think about Morocco instead! :)

Details to come...

Trail information - sorry, we can't - we pay Austin and Lois 50 quid per rider for the rights to use their trail information, (plus the cost of the books and maps) - so we can't sell it on, and I'm sure they won't either.

But Morocco is looking good! :)

See us at Ripley!

Hi
Just returned from the 'secret trip' to trail ride in Oliana and have stopped as usual at Llavorsi, doing a few trails around here (especially the one to Andorra!............(for the benefit of smokers!) and camping Riberies has had a shower block refurb and an open outside dining area attached, for those that have not been to the campsite before, there is a nice onsite friendly bar that also does food, this is probably one of the best campsites I have used in Spain for the atmosphere and wi-fi (password; llavorsi2011).
Warning; Make sure you have at least one mirror fitted to your bike, some cops insist on 2,as my mate found out en route from Oliana, lights on at all times on the road and make sure your number plate is clean upon joining a road after a trail, my mate and I both got a 'threat' of a €200 fine. Have a good one and BTW we are going white water rafting in the morning!

Riding to Llavorsi....

Leaving London W4 at 07:30am on Sat 2nd July and heading to Llavorsi, Spain on 1200GSA. Will likely take the quickest route across the pond (i.e the tunnel). Hoping to get as far as Limoges for the night, and to Llavorsi Sun beer o'clock. Any one fancy a ride down?

Mike.

Spain is one of those countries where a reflective vest is compulsory for pedestrians on main roads and when exiting a car it must be worn.

Does anyone know if this applies to motorcycles ?

I ask as I recently heard of a biker stoppped by the police who dismounted and was then fined for not having one on having then become a pedestrian! (It could of course be rubbish)

My recent experience of Spanish police was not good. Whilst staying on a campsite in Spain last December (La Manga), all the british cyclists that rode into town on their pushbikes were fined for not wearing a cycle helmet on a main road outside the town limits.

This is quite an amazing coincidence - exactly as I was looking through the transport departmenst rules to check this one out - no eay task! - two Guardia Civils walked into the campsite bar where I am now for their evening coffee (it's five to eleven in the evening!), ever ready to serve the HUBB community I just got up and asked them, politely of course!

The answer is, Yes, every motorist has to weat a reflective jacket when s/he is away from their vehicle on the 'highway' (carretera). And in principle this means that all motorcyclists should have this item available for use - but I've never , ever heard of a biker doing this!

Ride well, be nice to the Guardia Civil - by and large they're are pretty nice to you!

Not that I do anythnbg illegal like riding through restricted zones, oh no no no!

According to the AA, foreign motorcyclists won't be fined for not having the reflective jacket.

Just got back...

Just got back from the HUMM (well, shower and food first) and it was an excellent one. Shame it will never be held in Spain again, then again, Morocco should be nice and I almost definitely will attend.

One thing worth noting: when it says on the A3 map: 'dangerous junction', they really mean it. Actually, the junction itself wasn't nearly as dangerous as the trail itself. It started off quite steeply. After a while you think: this surely must be it. After a few times thinking the same it finally leveled a bit. I learnt later the incline was about 1 km and yes, I believe it.

Grant and Susan: again, thanks for an excellent event and I will hopefully see you next year.

I think I have just answered my question re the reflective jackets.

I had a rear flat on the Spanish motorway near Bilbao. :helpsmilie:

A repair plug popped out and went flat immediately.

Anyway, whilst fixing the tyre I was extremely glad I had my reflective with me.

Nuff said.....

:offtopic:

In Sweden there is currently a project going with the Swedish bikers asssociation (SMC) and one of the insurance companies. Apparently 9 out of 10 accidents involving collisions between motorbikes and cars are as a result of the driver in the car not observing the bike in time.

So they send you a free reflective vest to wear when you ride for 2011 and then they will evaluate what the biker has experienced, if he/she can sense any improvement in other drivers behaviour. And to see if it has any impact on these kind of acccidents.

I always wear one while riding, it´s a cheap life-prolonger.

On topic:

I would very much to team up with someone for HUMM 2012!
Currently riding a 1986 XT600Z Ténéré (81000kms).
