At the very top of every HU page it says:
Here's your LAST chance EVER to ride the Pyrenees HUMM Does that mean there won't be a HUMM next year? Just curious... Sadly, we won't be there, as we have to fly back to Thailand and NZ soon after. Sorry about writing all in bold. There is a bug in the editor. I pasted the 2nd line in here and now the bold button does nothing! |

Nope, sorry for any confusion, but the maps will be handed out AT the event! That decision was made after last year, when comments were made about a few people getting down early and pre-riding the trails. That didn't seem fair to us, so no maps in advance - in fact, no one even knows what map we'll be using!
![]() I couldn't figure out why you thought we'd be sending the maps out in advance, and then found that we hadn't corrected the page in one spot - I did get it corrected on another place though, so I had it half right - or half a$%#d as usual, sorry. ![]() It is fixed now ![]() Importantly, EVERYONE will be on the same footing, and no one will be able to check out the trails early. Remember to come prepared with magnifying glasses - one for the prep session, and one for on the trails, and also fine markers/highlighters - as one team found out last year, the thick dark marker they brought to mark the trails with obliterated all the detail! A highlighter would be my choice, in several colours. I can't wait to get down there myself, and we look forward to seeing you all!

That sounds like a very sensible Plan. Only mentioned because it was what I had read and was getting excited.
Is there a reason why the HUMM is moving from Spain next year? All the best and I hope everyone has a safe and trouble free journey down. |

Whilst im posting too much id like offer our backup services for anyone planning to bike it the whole way. Weve decided to cheat this year and taking the van instead and happy to help out if anyone gets stuck on route. Not sure how much space well have but we should be able to help out some how.
Our route is not set in stone but weve got the chunnel booked for 8am saturday morning and planning on travelling south via main routes over 2 days (saturday / sunday and maybe into monday). I dont really want to post my mobile number here so if anyone wants it just in case send me a PM (ill also check the forums on the way) ![]() Steve PS If you see a blue/grey Vivaro with a HU sticker on give us a wave ![]() PPS Grant can you post us some stickers pls?! Weve some how lost all of ours and was hoping to get some with the maps lol.. |

Stickers - none were ever sent with the maps, so that was a hopeless hope. But if you're coming to Ripley it's easy - if not, trickier - order on the store and we'll get them out to you from Ripley. BUT send an email with your order to let us know so we don't send them slow boat from Canada! And of course you'll get some at the HUMM ![]() Grant

Here's the basics:
1. you have to be able to READ and MARK maps to plan where you're going. 2. Measuring how far it is might be nice. 3. A method of KNOWING where you're going EASILY will be a big help on the trail! 4. Correcting and figuring out what the #^^$# you were thinking back at the planning stage while on the trail could be useful! 5. READING the map on the trail will be CRITICAL. 6. Knowing what direction you're GOING might be handy! 7. Keeping your map dry and easy to access / read is useful. Tip - one map you will work from is a full size map REDUCED to A4 approximately! IT has the points marked on it! YOU have to put those marks on the BIG map you will carry on the trail. High magnification will make that easier. And if all else fails, the Spanish long lunch and siesta solves all problems
