I would love to join this event, too bad my schedule clears out at the end of July.

However, I will be visiting Barcelona by motorcycle in August and it would be a great opportunity for me to visit the Pyrenees in the same journey. Is there any place I cand find the HUMM roadbooks or routes from any of the last years?

I googled it with no success.

Thank you.

Hi,

Sorry you can't make it!

Maps and guide books are NOT available at all, they're exclusive to participants on the day only, sorry. They're a substantial portion of the cost of the event!

Tyre choice?

Hi,

I'm travelling down to the event on my F650 dakar and was wondering if my Metzeler Tourance tyres will cope on the off-road sections or should I be thinking of changing them to more of a 50/50 tyre such as Heidenau K60?

This will be first HUMM and really looking forward to it.

Craig

Craig, the IDEAL would be to ride down on the Tourances and change to a full knobby when you get here. But that does cost, 'cause what are you going to do with the knobblies after it's over? As I said, ideal!

The Tourances will work pretty well - similar tyres have been used for the HUMM before and worked fine! We've even had winners on similar in the over 650 class.

Note that Tim, our support guy from Loco for Motos can bring tyres for you to the event, and change them out and back. You MIGHT even be able to work a deal with him for the used ones! Details to contact him on the HUMM page.

See you there!

Anyone have space to tkae my bike down?

Hey everyone,

Really looking forward to the HUMM this year, can't wait to get down there... Speaking of which I'm wondering if anyone has room to take my dirt bike (and a bit of kit) there and back for me? The bike is located in South London and obviously I'm willing to pay.

Please let me know.

Cheers,

Pete

It's very unlikely they'll hassle you about it. However - stick one ANYWHERE - there's always someplace, even if it's under the fender - the Spanish cops would probably get a laugh out of that - since I'm sure they don't care!

And you could run into an @#$%hole.

"Look like you're trying" is always my motto on this stuff.

The police in Spain are now on the Ball

We were down there with Mr Vince in 2009 and the police pulled a few of us.

They told us they would fine us 90euro for not having a mirror, the same for not having the GB logo on the numberplate { its no good putting in on the panniers or top box then taking them off to go trail riding }
They checked all the V5's and insurance and even looked at our tax disc.

I'm not sure if they can fine you on the spot for the above , but they kept us in the layby for almost a Hour.

I now have the GB sticker on my number plate and 2 mirrors, and always carry the paper work for the bike with me.

Have Fun Dazzer

Tyres

Hi all
Heading down from Ireland and looking for a fresh set of tyres when we get there. I have tried to contact LocoForMotos via email but haven’t got a reply. Anybody got any other options or room in a van (travelling from Ireland) for a couple of sets of tyres.
Thanks
John

John, I'm sure Tim will get back to you asap - and he will be able to supply tires - he's probably on a tour at the moment. I talked with him a week or so ago, and all is good.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
