Hi, Maria!

I went to Penedo last weekend, from sunday 'til wednesday. I was in a camping ground nearby (300m) the center of this village.
Nice and calm camping place. Not so warm. A little bit cold, even considering winter's time in brasil (24ºC high 12°C lowest). I believe that there is fresh weather, mountain's air and climate.. There is no hot water at showers. clean, grass, trees. a lot of space for tents. not so cheap: it is R$20,00 by user, by day. There are exclusive men's and women's wcs and showers. You can see some pictures there at my Orkut (Paulo Assis). Just ask and I'll add your name and grant you full access.
Near to Penedo, there is Visconde de Maua, within 30km in a beautifull and paved road, with a lot of curves and, also, Maringa, Capelinha, Serrinha and Maromba, but by non paved roads.
Near to the camping, there are several, small shoppings and market places, food, cafes, lan house, bakeries, music bars.
But, probably, it will be full of tourist in the holidays. Not in the camping, but in the village. The restaurants use to cost R$40,00 for a lunch.
that's it for the moment. What do you and the others guys think about?
Hugs!
Paulo

Hi....I'm a observer in the Hubb for a while but Grant gave me a notice that you, Maria, is organizing a HU mini-meeting in Brazil. I live in Niteroi but constantly (weekly) travel to SP for family and girlfriend. I know too well the highway, Penedo and the other cities along that route. You can´t go wrong along there plus it is central to the states of Rio, Minas and S.Paulo. I would like to help somehow. Do let me know how. Cheers.

Hi guys,

thanks for the offers of help. I could do with some (Especially I as I am currently bogged down with Detran to register my bike - a nightmare - long story!!!)

Anyway, at the moment we are travelling around Wyoming and Montana on a couple of rented motorbikes so I don't have always access to internet.
I will be back in Rio mid July and we can discuss this. Date still 14th to 16th Sept. Venue if you have something very good and convenient for everyone, I am flexible.
So far we may be about 10 but the numbers can grow at the last minute! We need to know for sure 2 weeks before and make sure the area selected has plenty of accommodations in addition to the main venue.

Let's talk when I am back.

cheers,

MAria

Put me down as a maybe. I am in Peru now and will get to Brazil eventually, but mid-September might be a bit soon at the rate I've been traveling lately. I will let you know closer to the date if I can make it there.

Hi,

I dont think we are going to make it. Our sailing from europe is delayed, so we only get to Uruguay by the end of August, maybe even start of September. and our poor old mog cannot get that far that fast :-(

Best of luck with the meeting, and maybe we will see some of you on the road if your heading South.

Merv and Sarah.

meeting postponed to a later date.... (

Hi guys,

It seems that for most of you, the date of mid-September is not possible.

Unfortunately it is the same for me. I have to go back to the UK at the end of September, as something rather unexpected but very important came up.

Could one of you step up and re-schedule the meeting at another more convenient date for all? not sure when I can be back but I may have to spend few months in London.

Sorry for the very few of you (Bruno, Maja, Mario?) who confirmed they would be in.

I've reached Rio and will be here for the next few weeks. If anyone is around and would like to meet up. Let's do it.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
