Street bike to Travellers Meeting in Creel?

Hi all,

How practical is it to ride a street bike (R1150RT) down through Baja, take the ferry to the mainland and ride over to Creel? I'm planning on going to the Horizons Unlimited meeting in October.

I'm debating whether to take my DR-Z400S (great for dirt; not comfortable for > 300 miles a day) or my R1150RT (anti-lock brakes, great for long days on paved roads; forget dirt roads).

Any advice: pros and cons?

Thanks!

Totally optional - there's pavement all the way for the street bike, and the roads are awesome - but there's a lot of fun dirt too! We've had everything there including Harleys and Gold Wings, so no problem for street bikes.

see you there!

Great! Can you give me contact information about places to stay (hotels, cabin, etc.)? What do you recommend? Thanks! Lynn

Everything's on the Mexico Meeting page - "HU Travellers Meetings" link on left. I'd recommend staying at the Meeting campground/cabins. Do register asap and reserve a cabin if that's what you want as they do book out for the meeting. Price may get better too - we're working on it - but no promises.

There's lots of accommodation in town too - no need to reserve there, you can easily just arrive and find something.
