Creel in October!

Planning of going this year again...had a great time last year. Naco was completely clear to cross last year comming back from mx. A small border crossing but are the documents available there as well (vehicle & guest papers)? I plan on crossing that same Sunday the 8th as well. Anyone have any info a the avalability of the required documents at that crossing? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

San Diego to Copper Canyon '06

Hmmm, just dialed in on this today and might be able to make the ride. Still have a few days to register, see about getting the time off, etc. Have ridden to Cabo but this would be a firsty on the mainland by bike. Where is Naco?

Copper canyon ride Oct. '06 : Naco

Naco is on the Arizona border west of Douglas, connects straight to Mex 2 and Cananea to west , Agua Prieta to east.

Douglas On Monday the 9th AM

Hey guys,

Looks like I'm leaving Sunday at noon from Rancho Cucamonga and will not make it to the border 'til too late that nite. (Have a prior comitment Sunday Morning). Anyone will be crossing at that time? I plan on making it to Creel the 10th in the afternoon.

Take care,

Greg

Crossing Douglas on 9th AM

Hi to all riders to Creel,

I am planning on crossing the border at Douglas in early morning of 9th(Monday) and hope to be in Creel by end of the day. I am not sure how far to Creel and how long it will takes from Douglas. Can anyone help me with the estimated travel time ?

I am leaving San Jose on 7th, spend night in Blythe, and the second night in Douglas. I hope I can cover about 500 miles per day on my '89 Honda TransAlp.

See you all at Creel/Copper Canyon.

to Creel from Douglas AZ

Just by checking my Quimera Mexico road atlas the distance from Douglas to creel along the short route Via Janos and La Junta comes to just over 600km or 400 miles to you. Minding that it is already October and short daylight hours it will be a real challenge to do it in one day. Give yourself two days and enjoy the scenery and small towns you will encounter along the good roads where you may find the odd construction zone, done them.

You can do it Taka!

I did that many miles in mexico on my last trip in April. Not too much fun though :-(. But hey, we gotta work... I plan on making it to Douglas on the 8th at nite as well. e-mail me at: greg@acropolisloans.com and let's exchange contact information so we can ride down to Creel from there. If we start the trip before 10am (after finishing with all the paperwork at the border) we can make it there by 6:30PM or so without stopping too many times for too long. I'll wait for your mail.

TaKa care,

Greg

Visas at the border?

Are y'all picking up visas/bike import papers at the border or setting that up b4 hand? Think I will be able to thru Discover Baja, here in San Diego. Looks like I'll be leaving San Diego Thurs, 10/5; crossing the border at Douglas (don't want to miss Bisbee & Tombstone) Sat AM, 10/7; arriving Creel Sunday. Glad to hook up with anybody else who's not in any big hurry. May be returning by way of the ferry from Guaymas to Santa Rosalia (Baja). And, if you haven't ridden in Mexico before, it's different: for example, if a truck in front of you gives you a left turn signal, he (probably) means it's safe to pass him. And then there are the pinche topes, ie.(often unmarked) speedbumps, especially going thru the small ejidos.
