Adding my thanks as well. I arrived late, ate and drank myself silly, saw some nice countryside and met a lot of nice folks....plus re-encountered people I'd met on two continents and met a whole passel whose on-line commentary I'd appreciated.

The only thing I missed was the very helpful B.C. resident who was going to bring me some sprocket-changing tools. Sorry, but I had no idea I'd be a few days late, that the encampment would spread over hill and dale or that the attendees would fill Legion Halls and Senior Centers with such ease. My humble thanks, whoever you really are, and my apologies at being unable to take advantage of your generosity.

I just spent a couple of days mountain biking down in Rossland, reminding me why I also ride an internal combustion-powered machine. Look for me wandering the hills for a week or two until my tenants move out and I settle back home

Had a great time, listened and watched many great stories, ate great food, met numerous great people. Thank you Grant, Susan, Ekke, Audrey and all the rest for making the event so much fun. It was all very inspirational.

Asked about you Mark many times, but couldn't find you. Have a good ride home.

Photos of the Nalusp HU meeting 1

(DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT GOOD AT REMEMBERING NAMES SO HEREBY MY APOLOGIES FOR NOT MENTIONING YOU)

My 1st ride report. Not much of riding, more like meeting with travelers from around the world. About 160 of them from Australia, Germany, Japan, England, Ireland, Alberta ;)

As I was leaving home at 7:30AM on Wednesday the sun was 'ashining ;D ;D and heading to Rocky Mountain House only to meet an AlbertaDualSports rider with his wife on his way to GS (BMW) challenge. Had some coffee with them at the local Timmies. Thanks for the stickers.

Stopping at Moraine Lake (above Lake Louise), worth the ride even if among many cagers

Before the snow sheds on Hwy 1

Next stop was Golden, The Dualsporter advised to head to the Wolfsden (or such?) but I did not make that, instead rolled into the municipal campground. There I caught up with some Dutch tourists that were a bit lonely...? Good to speak a bit of the old mother tongue once again. Also gave them some advise as they were still going to be in Canada for a week.

Next day got up and made my way to the local MackPukes on Hwy 1, got some breakfast and lunch at the same time and headed out the door. Revelstoke here I come.

Japanese biker from Tokyo, on his way down south after been in Alaska - broke an expensive Hepco Becker case, hing snapped.

The meeting was at Nakusp, a beautiful area in the Selkirk mountains British Columbia, in between talks I made my way up (half) a forestry trunk road. Bolders were getting a fair size and my front tire was complaining. even though a good experience to try it.

People mostly arrived at thursday afternoon, one after another, many on KLRs and BMW GS1200. Also many on trusty V-Stroms.

registration after 2pm was well organized.

Camping was at a first come/first serve basis. Just pitch your tent wherever there is space, makes for interesting camping. With picnic tables thrown in for good measure for evening chatting and drinking
