HU Silverton Colorado Meeting

We have an HU member from Thailand who would like to attend the HU Colorado mtg, July 12-15th. His Honda XR650 is presently sitting in Counce, Tennessee, and needs a helping hand to get it to Colorado (he'll fly in fr Thailand via Belgium without enough time to ride it to CO). Anyone coming through TN with a truck or trailer who might be able to pick it up and bring it out with them would really, really be of help! Please contact me.

As the organizer of 2007's HU mtg in Silverton, Colorado, I can tell you that we have a bunch of great (new) speakers lined up for both tech clinics and evening travelogues. The location is world-class in all respects (building, camping, scenery, riding). I hope everyone who can, will make the effort to join us for what should be an exciting and informative get together.

Before you go you should Google "news utah" and "news nevada".
Look at the news from local TV stations across both states.
There have been large fires burning in both states that have closed major highways.
If you are coming from the west some of the roads that have been closed are
I-80, I-15, I-70.
Most of those are open now, but lightning has been starting fires accross both states and you may have to change your route.
One couple from California on a motorcycle were killed in Utah when they were rear ended in the smoke from one of those fires.

Smoke and dust

I always pull over and ride down the shoulder or clear off the road when going thru dust and smoke. Some car drivers don't seem to want to slow down at all with O visibility.
See you all in Silverton. If anybody is headed north to canada or alaska after the meet I have plenty of camping and even a small shop you can use after hours.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
