ferry details

The meeting is lining up sweet. This one's going to be assume.

I called the St John / Digby ferry people. They said to be there one hour before departure to be ticketed and lined up. The schedule is on AST time zone, which is one hour ahead of EST zone, for those that are traveling from the west (including those coming from the US.)

During peak season, two trips per day leaving St. John:
12:00 (12:00 PM noon) Everyday
23:00 (11:00 PM) Monday - Friday / Saturday and Sunday 20:00 (8:00 PM)

Two trip per day leaving Digby:
8:00 (8:00 AM)
16:00 (4:00 PM)

The ferry people also recommend making a reservation...

All set

I'm spending some time in New Hampshire with friends, before riding up to Nova Scotia. Did a great ride on the Kancamangous Highway through Franconia Notch. Looking forward to my first HU gathering. See you all next friday.

So - I'm already registered, but with hurricane making its way up the coast, how "uncool" would it be to drive over in my car instead of my bilke? I'm only a few hours away, but unfortunately am kinda new to this adventure riding thing, and am sadly not really equipped for torrential downpours, but would really hate to miss this...

Come however you want! We are working on some contingency plans though if the weather turns nasty. I'm holding out hope the storm will miss us.

Bring your bike and your tent! I'm sure we can ensure your comfort and dryness.

Thanks for the update Craig. I made some calls and will find out later today if I can make it.

Insofar as the weather... the tropical storm will give the event the feel of riding in the rain forest with the added refreshing scent of pine.

Hoping to see everyone there.

How was HU's First Nova Scotia meeting?

Saw that the Nova Scotia's east coast got the tail end of Hurricane Arthur. Did it miss the meeting?

How was the 1st Maritimes meeting? Sorry to have missed it. Inquiring minds would like to know!

HU Maritimes 2014

I really enjoyed the event (the hurricane... not so much) and it was fun to meet the attendees and presenters. Hat's off to the organizing committe and the 74th Crusaders club for making everything work out.

Here's a slideshow of pics I shot over the course of the event.

I had a great time as well, the hurricane just made it more interesting. Great organization, inspiring speakers and participants made my first HU meeting a memorable one.

If anyone has more pics, please post them here.

Thanks for the kind words, and we're certainly glad you had a great time. Luckily, the remnants of the hurricane are all but a memory now and the power is all restored. I'd like to see more pictures as well....given I forgot my camera!

You took some great photos Doug. I enjoyed them. That one with the leaning tree behind the tent is destined to become a classic.

Maritimes

Smalld - thanks for the great photos! Happy to hear it was still a good meeting. Looks like a beautiful location (green!), nice bikes and some familiar license plates FYYFF and IBA. Did anyone ride out from the California?
