Different agendas at different mtgs?

I have never attended a HU Travelers Meeting before. Both the Colorado and Nelson, BC locations are about equal distances from where I live in south-central Idaho. Are the presentations at the meetings generally the same or do they differ from location to location? Thanks. -Tatt2

Which gathering?

Have fun and go to both and then decide.

Hey Grant!!!

I was wondering how many travelers arrived at last years H.U. meeting in
North Carolina.I have a friend in Florida who wants to start a trip around North America, and i have been trying to get him to ride up and check this years meeting out.He wants to travel but is iffy on how to do it.He is also old school when it comes to a computer.I know being around veteran travelers and getting a first hand feel on how its done should take some of his jitters away...

I've been to one HU meeting so far, but I have talked to others who have been to other meetings. Seems like there is always some "open" agenda, depending upon who is there and what they want to talk about.

I understand that Grant often gives his wonderful presentations on planning RTW trips and travel photography. I'm glad I went to those, but I'd probably skip the photo presentation again if there was an alternate ride or something going on. The trip planning might be worth sitting through again, and I suspect that much of the value is in the questions that get asked by those in attendance.

I had the fortune of being at a meeting (Colorado, 2006) when some "guest" speakers happened to stop in and talk about their recent or on-going travels. The Scotsman who was completing his RTW trip was a hoot. The Harley rider who rode to the Middle East to see what all the fuss was about also put on a great slide show and talk.

So, I'd recommend going to both if you can. Otherwise, unless there is a known anticipated agenda that draws you, got to either one.

Each meeting is unique

I've attended 3 HU Travelers meetings myself, and can say that while there is certainly a common thread, each is unique. Different folks with different experiences attend, so the mix of formal talks, slide-shows and general networking greatly varies. As the organizer of 2007's HU mtg in Silverton, Colorado, I can tell you that we have a bunch of great (new) speakers lined up for both tech clinics and evening travelogues. The location is world-class in all respects (building, camping, scenery, riding). I hope everyone who can, will make the effort to join us for what should be an exciting and informative get together!
