Copper Canyon Mexico Meeting - planning, get-together etc

Hi,

If you're planning on going to the Copper Canyon Meeting, you can meet up with others headed there in this thread, and plan how and when to go and where to meet on the way for the ride down - or up!

We're going too, so see you there! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Grant,

As of today I'm planing on coming to the Copper Canyon ride. For those that want to hook up and ride along (as I do) I'll be leaving from the Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX area. Since I will be retired by that time my schedule will be flexible and I can accomodate others schedules. I speak very little Spanish but have ridden in the area before. Would like to hook up with someone that does speak the language and also knows the area.

Will be waiting for more details (meeting places, where to stay, etc.) as they become available.

Take care,

John

I'm leaving Chicago sometime early October and headed down through Houston probably then Matamoros then toward Cuernavaca (South of Mexico City). After that I'll be headed up to Creel. Anyone interested?

Looks like I'll try to make the copper canyon gig. I'll be leaving Southern California around 26th or 27th and after rally heading back. If anyone wants to hook up and meet post a note here...

Digitaltavern,

Sound like a possibility. We would be leaving from San Diego. Would like to take the ferry from the mainland to La Paz on the way back.

John & All Others (but Digital Tavern & K7, guess who I am??)

I'll be leaving Western Louisiana on 29 Oct and crossing at Ojinaga, Chihuahua on the morning of 30 Oct. I speak very fluent Spanish and just returned from eastern Mexico this past July. I rode down to Veracruz on a '02 BMW Paris Dakar 650. I'm 34 but my career has made me significantly more responsible than my average peer so please don't let an age discrepancy alter your perception of compatibility. Would seem to make sense to link-up somewhere stateside (San Antonio??)to cross the border. If you're unfamiliar with the process I can give you some well-documented references to read (plenty here already) and offer up my personal experience FWIW. BTW, best maps are Michelin maps IMO.

I should be joining the HU soon (01 Oct) so all my contact data will eventually show up.

Rocket Ron, Repo4sale and all others going to Copper Canyon from California - I've sent emails to both of you and look forward to the journey. Coming back through Baja sounds great. My schedule is open and flexible. Let's ink a final plan -- even meet in Orange County prior to departure. Sorry for the delay in response, I've been in Wyoming and Utah riding. Check out the photo albums here and here.

Hey Kitmo... just saw this post. Based on your personality, 34 is no problemo for me. Heck, I was 34 once... briefly. :-)

What the heck does Kitmo mean? I do know what FIGMO and FUBAR means but not Kitmo. Guess I'm not that much in the know.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Kermit 23 Sep 2003 08:36

I'm planing to come down to the meeting from San Francisco. Currently I'm thinking of making my way south via AZ (border crossing at Noagles), and back north via Baja (depending on the weather).

Dates for my trip are as follows:

10/25 leave SF, get ASAP to the border. Take it easy in Mexico, stopping at the sites and beaches along the way, arriving in Creel around 10/30 or 10/31.

11/8 be back in SF. I'm thinking of taking the ferry from Guaymas to Santa Rosalia rather then going all the way down south to La Paz.

I'm not sure if this is compatible with anyone elses schedule, but if you're heading the same way during these days, it would be fun to meet up.

BTW, we can accommodate one traveler (& spouse if necessary) on Wednesday night, Oct. 29th. We don't run no B&B and you may have to settle for pizza but the price is right....free.

The next morning, I anticipate our intrepid group of travelers meeting for breakfast and then hitting the road.

I'm posting this offer on the unlimited board & it's first-come, first-served so to speak.

Contact me off-line at the address noted in my profile. I can't check that address until this evening but don't worry. I'll get back to you ASAP.
