Will be heading south on Thursday morning from Naco and spending the night in Guerrero, arriving Creel early Friday. I am riding solo and hoping to share a cabin Friday and Saturday. Sunday morning departure for Tucson.

Thanks to all for a great event!! Karen and I rented a truck and headed down "the road" to Batopilas on Monday. Only problem was sweating bullets about meeting vehicle coming in opposite direction on the 40 mile scenic trip down and back. All went ok until headed out on Tuesday morning . . met "the bus" as it was coming down and we were headed up the last "impassible" climb out of the canyon. No way was I backing up 100 yds plus for a pull off. Bus only had to back up about 20 yds and we were able to pass. Otherwise, we would still be there.
Now in Covington, LA for Sunday night. Headed to Pensecola tomorrow for a day or two on the beach, depending on the weather. Karen deserves a treat to say the least. KLR has done great--will be about 4200 miles by the time we get back to Inverness.
Give us a holler if in Central Fl in the winter or western NC in the summer!
Cheers!

I left Creel on Sunday to hike the falls at Basaseachic. I passed three riders on their way to the same place on the dirt road from San Juanito. Juan Carlos, Micky and another rider whose name I don't know. I waited at the trail head for a while, then set out on the trail. I never saw them again. What happened to you guys? The hike to the bottom of the falls was spectacular. Next time, I want to find the Piedra Volada falls. Here is a link to some photos. http://home.comcast.net/~gdavis5449/...tos.html-.html
Check it out!
Thanks to all involved for a meeting that exceeded all expectations. Well done!
Glen

This thread is a year old now.

Is there any current thread for the
upcoming 2004 Copper Canyon meeting?

Anyone out there?

I have some ferry questions and it would be nice to see what kind of turnout to expect down there. I know there are a bunch of folks from the ADvrider board
going, Deutsch? Francias? Espanol?

Amazingly quiet here to your point. There's a ton of activitiy over at http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...7&page=1&pp=15 which is the advrider site.

There's a huge crowd of riders headed down that have posted there. I'm not sure why it's so quiet here though.

Re the cabins at the KOA: great deals have been obtained... see the main page for more info.

I just spoke to Fernando at the KOA. The two main contacts are Eduardo and Fernando and the others speak limited English. Laura is a good contact based on 'gasrider's comments.

Here's the current availability left:

..............................Thursday.........Fri day/Saturday
Type A..........................4.....................2
Type B..........................8.....................8
Type E..........................2.....................1

Plus, there are two Suites for the BMW-rich-guys.

Again, the contact info is as follows:

Toll Free From USA: 1-888-6102095
From México: 01-800-710-6422

You can probably find a cheap room in town but at $20 per body, you can stay at the main location. Either way, it's all good right?!

I am planning on making the Copper Canyon trip. I live in Tucson, Az. I will probably leave on Oct. 13 early in the morning. I am not sure what my route might be. I might try the Douglas border entry and ride to Chihuaha (spellin might be wrong). I have been to Mexico many times (Guaymas/San Carlos) and would like to avoid Hermesillo. But if it's a lot quicker that route, I may bite the bullet and go through Hermesillo anyway. So far I am going alone. Anyone going through Tucson at the same time, I would be interested in riding with them.
