Stupid-stupid-stupid or, in the spirit of our distination, estúpido-estúpido-estúpido.

For those who don't know me, I live on the south side of Phoenix AZ just off of I-10 and Pecos Rd. Very, very easy to find.

We'll take the Nogales route towards Hermosillo and then head towards the east.

DigitalTavern 25 Sep 2003 03:07

Hey Kermit and others: heading down from Southern California to Calexico on the 27th or 28th then toward Hermosillo and east. Returning via Baja on either the ferry from Guaymas or Topolobampo pending timing and schedules for those traveling. So far me and Repo4Sale are in the group with a couple from San Diego as a possibility. Taking it easy, doing sites and getting into Creel around the 30th. Contact me here -- perhaps we might meet up with other travelers coming from Nogales in Hermosillo? It's all very flexible at this point.

Hey, howdy, hey all ya folks out there in Moto-Travel Land!

RRRRRRRRRRRRRitmo with an 'r' or 'R'.

I'm a drummer so I picked the spanish word for rhythm here as it relates to my many previous travels to Mexico. I am very excited about participating in the HUBB to share serious and insightful discussion of safe motorcycle randonees.

About myself...yep, I'm a drummer. But I've been down lately for maintenance. I recently had my little red vest re-sewn. And my little marching boots needed to be re-soled. My two little cymbals needed some tuning so I had to unglue them from my little paws and my Fez was getting a little frayed so that went to the haberdasher as well. Lastly, it sure was cold but I had my fur taken to the dry cleaners for some spot cleaning. Oops, almost forgot! I had my little curly tail re-curled for the big show comin' up.

Yep, don't let anybody fool ya...bein' a professional wind-up, cymbal-clappin' monkey doll is tough work and it takes a lot of personal sacrifice.

But in the end, it's the kind of work that allows me to pursue the demanding sport of motorrad as a disciplined and no-nonsense aficionado.

Interesting.... isn't this around the time period of El Día de los Muertos? That could be bad news for Ritmo and his plans to be seen in public during those celebrations.

Ritmo, I know who you are!

k7lro 1 Oct 2003 23:04

Hey Ike...that's pretty good... for an old guy.

Riding Partner needed...
Okay, so I'm brand new to this BB posting reply stuff, I mistakenly placed the below message as a new topic, and feared that no one would find it, so I'm copying back to this discussion thread. Sorry for the junk.

Thanks, David "hope I find a partner" Bosley,

Hola,
I am back to MC riding after 15 years of being without. Considering riding to the HU meet in Copper Canyon, Mexico on my new '03 Tiger.
No riding partner yet, interested in meeting up with someone(okay, anyone!), as the limits of my Spanish is probably to order too many cervesas, and/or get into big trouble.
Leaving from Denver, headed south on I-25 to Albuquerque, NM, then hope to not "take the wrong turn in Albuquerque.." to quote Bugs Bunny.
Anyone care to take a "newbie" distance rider under a proverbial wing??? I've never left the states, and probably too nervous to attempt this completely on my own.
Please reply if you might be able to travel together.

Hello to everybody from Gibsons,BC,Canada!
A newbie here and just found out about this BB. I'm going to the national HOG rally in Morelia, Michoacan for Oct.24,24,26 and will be returning by way of the festivities in CC. I'm travelling solo, second time driving in Mexico, first time on the bike. Is anybody coming to this event from the south? Grant has given me some ideas on a route. Hey Ritmo, como estas? Hablo espanol un poquito. Lo he estudiado por unos pocos anos y por un mes en GDL. Any info you can supply is appreciated, and anybody wishing to share accomodation in Creel (one of those cabins looks cool!) I'm a cleancut, non-smoking friendly guy. I'm leaving Vancouver,BC on Oct.8 with the bike in the truck and unloading it in San Diego for 38 days of travel in the lower US and Mexico. Sure wish I'd known about this BB sooner but I'll be checking on the Net during my travels.
See you all there! Gord

Hi I'm totally new to all this moto travel stuff and I'm 90% sure of headin' down to ol'Mehico. I've driven extensively thoughout mex in various contraptions, so I lively jaunt down to Creel shouldnt be a problem, barring any new bike paperwork issues and properly kitting out my bike before then. I plan on leaving SoCal 26-27th and Heading back by 2-3rd. I'd like to hook up with other riders anywhere from TJ, to Nogalas.

cheers

k7lro 10 Oct 2003 04:32

We'll cross the border at Nogales on the 30th. Contact me directly by email and we'll try to figure out where to hook up.

If you want to meet us in Phoenix, tentative plans are to meet for breakfast at the IHOP at Ray Road and I-10 at 7 AM.

It appears that there will be 3-4 of us on F650, an older GS and other bikes TBD.

scorpion 12 Oct 2003 03:32

You planning on going from Phoenix>Nogales>Hermosillo>XCreel all in one go?

How far is that? (hours/km)

:: dave

k7lro 13 Oct 2003 08:52

PHX to Nogales is about 180 miles. Hermosillo is about 170 miles from Nogales. Creel is about 300 miles from Hermosillo according to a hi-level map at http://www.vmcoppercanyon.com/

Now, 300 miles in the US is quite different than 300 miles in Mexico after we leave Hermsillo.

Our current plan is to get through Hermosillo and then stop for the night after that. We hope to arrive in Creel in mid-to-early afternoon on Friday... good Lord willing and the creeks don't rise. :-)

Grant Johnson 13 Oct 2003 11:36

Try and get there early Friday at the latest - there will be lots of people to talk to all day Friday and Saturday - usually people who arrive late Friday to these meetings feel "they've missed out".

Lots of info on things to see and do at Creel as well, and our organised rideouts to start off with.

Biggest problem is squeezing it all in! Next year we'll probably go for 3 days, starting thursday night!

k7lro 17 Oct 2003 11:47

OK... it's too quiet so let's try a roll call.

WHO IS GOING???!!!!

Me...aka Gerry
Al Jesse assuming he returns from Japan in time.

OTHERS????

:-)

Kpick 20 Oct 2003 10:29

Just to chime in...We will be trucking a bike from N.Cal to Phoenix on Wed.then leaving via KLR on Thurs AM. and taking two days to get to Creel.
