I am anticipating being there - Bruce Crawford (aka Gaspipe) is an excellent ambassador for the HU meetings and I trust his judgment.

My wife may come as well (2-up riding), but the last bike event we attended - ITT Transalp event in Germany - had only a few women amongst the 200+ who attended and it was not much fun for her when we were not riding. My question is how many women attended last year's meeting at Copper Canyon?

Thanks, Jack Eshelman

Grant Johnson 11 May 2005 10:02

Jack, there were 13 women registered of the 110 registrants total, so not a bad turnout for the women.

This long distance travel stuff attracts a lot of couples, and there are also women on their own - I think at least two completely on their own last year, several riding their own bikes, and a few two-up.

Too early to tell how many this year, but last year is pretty representative. I do know there are at least two women so far!

Grant, thanks for the info. I think we will be coming 2-up. I'll get my registration in soon.

Regards, Jack

Jack,

I hope to see you there.

I may be taking an extended dirt route to CC this year from Douglas, AZ, or I may slab it to the Big Bend area and find some 'other' way in I've not ridden before.

CC is a must-do ride. Try to spend an extra couple of days and go down to Batopilas or Urique for an overnight. You won't regret it!

Is it Oct yet? I'm dying for a vacation and Creel looks like it'll be the first vacation of the year for me.

Grant - is Susan coming this year?

Close your eyes and stick your nose in the freezer for a minute - it'll feel like fall is coming real soon now... http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif

That's so mean... it was 116F/46.7 C in PHX this weekend. :-)

Being cold in Creel sounds great right about now.

A bit of a change. I won't be able to ride/drive until Jan. 2006, so I can't go unless I can get a ride. Of course, the odds of someone going who wouldn't mind giving me a ride is slim.

To make it even slimmer, license suspension because I have epilepsy and I had a seizure. My fault, I haven't taken medication since March. Back on the pills, so there should be no more seizures.

One week to go before I pack up and head south....tick...tick...tick....

Grant Johnson 29 Sep 2005 03:53

At least you're riding - the bike I was expecting failed to materialise, so I'm flying into Chihuahua and renting 4 wheels to get to the meeting... boo! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/frown.gif

On another note - we're a little low on presenters - so if anyone wants to do a presentation on a trip they've done, please let me know!

thanks, Grant
