Disappointed that there was no group rides as advertised !!!

Hey guys, just back from the 10th Anniversary H.U meeting in NC. Love the area, and as usual some great presentations, however I was quite disappointed when I asked about the dual purpose (off-road )group ride, I was told that they don't have any. " yes, I know that our web site says that we will be having group rides, but we don't. It is up to you to find other rides and ride with them."
Well, that sucks when you make to one of these events solo and knowing that most people like to ride "streets" only.
I manage to find another guy to go do some trails, but took a lot of effort to find someone and not as fun and having when you have to try to find roads to ride when you are not local.
Disappointed....

VERY sorry you were disappointed, but as posted on the webpage under the Ride info:

We'd like to have a volunteer to lead this ride. Let me know here if you can. Thanks!
And there'll be more too! Book your place as soon as you get there, numbers will be limited.
Ride leaders and sweep riders wanted!
Sadly if no one steps up and volunteers, there's no ride leader.

To alleviate the problem, we have posted links to some info to help out on the page.

I do wish you'd come to me at the time and we might have made an announcement that you were looking for a ride partner or posted a sign etc. Please remember it's all volunteer run, and we rely on you and everyone else to always communicate - if we don't know you're unhappy we can't fix it. This is a "co-operative Community" of travellers that we try our best to bring together and enable connection and sharing.

Remind me well in advance next year to send out a reminder that we need a ride leader!

thanks, Grant

just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed the HU meeting in NC. The line up of speakers, the location and all the interesting attendees , and the icing on the cake was having both of you there for the 10th anniversary ! great job to Mike K. And Steve too.

See you all next year or riding the road somewhere!

Soooooo sorry I missed this one. I am currently on an overland trip to Europe from North Carolina. I started out by Greyhound bus, switched to Amtrak and on Sunday I board a container ship for Hamburg, Germany. The object is to do the whole trip with as many forms of transport as I can without using planes.

No motorcycles involved, but may be an interesting "alternative" presentation for next year's meeting. I WILL be there!

Grand and Susan, I am so sorry that I missed seeing you two at the meeting. I hope you are both doing well!

Speaking just for myself, I thought this year's meeting was one of the best we've had. It was fantastic to have Grant and Susan back for the 10th anniversary, and what a wonderful group of presenters and attendees! I always find these events entertaining and inspiring.

Thank you all so much for coming and making this weekend so special. I hope to see all of you -- and a LOT of your friends -- at the 2014 NC meeting!

Couldn't have said it better myself - it was great for us to be there for the 10th, and we had a good time too, lots of amazing people and inspiring stories!

Thanks to you all for your support and we look forward to hearing about YOUR travels!
