Hey Martin,
HU used to sponsor an event/ride in the Pyrenees called "HUMM". I think around Andorra? Not sure if it's still done? I never attended but read about it here. It was a sort of Poker Run routing contest.

On several rides in South of France I randomly ran into ongoing rallies. Usually in small, quaint towns. Wonderful!
One was in the Dorgodone region, another somewhere in Provence. I just showed up and was welcomed in! Food, Beer and LOTS of bikes.
Remember France has 5 times as many registered bikes as the UK.
These events were mid to late April, IIRC.

Check in with any good bike dealer in your area ... I'm sure they can hook you up with regional rallies and events. Check on line too, here and on French Adventure forums.

Lots of HUBB members from the UK (and EU) ride down to Morocco. I did it solo, but recommend going with riders who've been there before and know the routes.
I was reluctant to take off solo into areas I had no clue about. Watch here on the HUBB in Africa sections and route planning sections. I'm sure some rides
will come up.

If you haven't ridden around Spain, do take the time to explore. I spent a month there.

Bon chance!

Patrick

Where abouts are you in provence? What kind of riding, you interested in? What bikes? I've been here a few weeks exploring love it here. Will be heading through spain or italy and Africa at some point but still enjoying it here for time being and I'm a pretty slow traveler so might not be what you're after. Ive been exploring some of the trails around and would like to go explore some further in the var but better to go with someone if you'd be interested sometime let me know. Ive seen a few biker magazines I bet have an events section.

Hi there and thanks to both of you for the information . I would like to do any sort of riding , I have really got into adventure riding over the last few months and just have this urgent need to try it thus my plans for a Morocan trip to start off with . I thought it might break me in gently . I have a BMW 1150gs that I have started to kit out .
I am in the Valcluse area near Avignon in a village called L'Isle sur la Sorgue , it's the antique centre of France , very touristic and beautiful with a lot of places to go and visit all around.
Wher are you at the moment Helcat?
And thank you Patrick for your help.
Martin

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
