Presentations anyone???

Is there anybody out there who would like to do a presentation at the meeting in September. If you want to tell their story or do a demonstration, please send me a PM.

For anybody attending, if you're sick of the weather in your part of the world, it's currently 10.30am, 36C and the sun is shining.

I just realised from the emails I'm getting that there's no info up about this years meeting.

Campsite is the usual one - details here - Camping Axarquia, camping la Viñuela

Because we haven't been able to pin anyone down to do a presentation this year, the meeting is free so no need to register. We've organised rideouts for each day, both on and off road. The pool will still be open so bring your swimmers.

The one day fun HUMM will take place on Friday from 10am. It's 90% off-road and knobblies are not required. Markers have been placed around the lake and in nearby natural parks.

We'll be there from Thursday afternoon onwards for early arrivals.

If you need any more info, PM or email me.

(Anyone wanting to visit my website below won't be able to for a few days. According to our hosting provider we had half a million hits the other night and they've shut us down and kept our money. It should be back up next week with another hosting company).

It's next week from 11 - 13 September 2009.

Humm

The route is about 100kms, 90% off-road, with 20 or so markers.

Here's some photos of where the markers are - Picasa Web Albums - Dakota - The Gecko HUMM.

Just Got Back

Another great weekend with friends. Photo's here - Picasa Web Albums - Dakota - HU Mini Meet ....

It was a small meeting (partly due to the 'credit crunch'), but you all made the weekend great folks and thanks for coming again.

Chris from Belgium said it's the smallest meeting he's been to, but it's the best and the prettiest, and he goes to one or two all over the world.

Rainer - who rode over 4,000 kms to get there - Petch is awesome and we hope to see her on her own bike next year. If you can't make it, make sure you send her!!!

Sara & Steve - we're so jealous - you should be in or near Morocco by now. Hope to see you on your return journey.

And Vincent - sorry you couldn't take part, but you got to see some parts of Spain at least.

We cooked some great food on a trangia and camping gas stove, drank lots of , got Sara & Petch hooked on tinto de verano, demonstrated how to use a She Wee (almost), watched a forest fire for a few hours (no Steve, it wasn't a little bonfire), went trail riding, swam in the pool, cheered Sara on when she had a little off on a hairpin, had massages from Petch to the delighted squeals of the boys (and girls) and much more.

Andy and I had a great time and we hope you did too. The campsite is booked for the same weekend next year, so see you all then .

Well done Alison and Andy!

I SO wished I could have been there this year, but it was not to be. Maybe next year...

Sounds like it worked out really well, and everyone had a great time, so that's all that matters!

So next year 10-12 September - see more of you there next year

Grant

What a difference a day makes .....

Less than 24 hours after the meeting, the first rains of the season arrived, together with a hailstorm. Some places had 80 litres of rain over 2 hours. We pretty much get the same weather here as Morocco.

The video was taken after the worst of the storm was over - we were trying to stop the house flooding with rain for the first hour.

HUMM(Andalucia)and HU Spain 2009

It was a wonderfull week_end for me.Like I said, you don,t need the most people but the best, and you sure had them, thanks for that, first of all Alison and Andy, but also Steve and Sara, and Rainer and Petch. I will be back next year,do I have to bring my camping gas stove with me? so we have more stoves to cook on.I had a BIG thunderstorn near Cordoba,it was so heavy that,at one moment we all could go 50km/h on the highway, the water ran like a river over the highway.I did abouth 5000km on this trip, and if nothing happens,I,ll be back next year. Hope to see all of you again then.
So Long.
Chris.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
