HU Meeting Spain (Andalucia) 2010

Dates: 9-12 September (we'll be there from Thursday afternoon to meet early arrivals)

Camping: Usual place - Camping Presa La Vinuela and again we would encourage sharing of pitches to reduce camp site costs.

Itinerary: We've realised over the past few years that people who come to our meeting like to have a relaxing time after long journeys here so the emphasis on the weekend will be to meet fellow travellers and generally have a relaxing time.

That said, we'll be having the following presentations:

Geoff Shingleton - the unforgettable and colourful Mr Shingleton will be doing a presentation on what to do in the event of a bike accident. Crash Test Dummy will be his ever suffering volunteer and will attempt to play dead (or at least unconscious) while Geoff performs his magic and revives her. For those who haven't seen his presentation, he can be seen on the Achievable Dream DVD which was filmed at a previous HU Spain meeting.

Geoff is a mine of information and his demo's on changing a tyre are quite funny especially when requiring help from fellow bikers - how may men does it take to change a tyre?

And we may be in for a treat if Crash Test Dummy and Mr Shingleton have another 'awesome' profiterole fight - what a waste of profiteroles I say.

Steve & Sara have kindly offered to talk about their first trip to Morocco last year after leaving the 2009 meeting. Maybe we could also persuade Sara to do a demo on how to pick up a bike ;)

Andy Makin will be having a small presentation entitled 'What Samuel L Jackson taught me about Adventure Motorcycling'. He's also become quite an expert at making Penny Stoves and whilst they are not easy to make 'in the field', he'll have some Blue Peter specials available to demonstrate (here's one I made earlier for the uneducated).

I hope to see all the usual suspects there - we may be a small meeting, but we know how to have fun - breakfast on Sunday morning.

And Rainer, if you're coming, please bring your awesome wife with you because she is a fantastic masseuse and so say all of us.

We've not planned any routes yet, but we'll make sure there's a few ride outs arranged. Anybody up for riding the goat this year???

Any other volunteers or ideas, please let me know.

If you've never been to one of our meetings before, there's plenty of photo's of where we ride on our website - Moto Andalucia - with lots of photos of past meetings. Remember, it's not how big it is, it's how much fun you have :)

Who's Coming?

We need to "reserve" the pitches ready for the meeting on 9 - 12 Sept.

If you´re coming and haven´t already told us, or if you might be coming, please drop either myself or Dakota a line.

Cheers :thumbup1:

I'm headed back to Morocco in September. Unfortunately I have an event in London on 17 September which I can't miss, so I won't be arriving in Malaga until about 21 September. Pity I will miss this, as I really enjoyed the first inaugural meet, especially Vaufi's talk on South Africa.

Hope everything goes well for you.

Tim

Wish I could make this, lived in Rota for 4 yrs and loved every minute.

mcgiggle 21 Aug 2010 09:25

We're visiting friends in the south of France and then Spain, leaving UK on 31st so will be down there around the right time. Is it a casual "mini meet" i.e. no cost :-) Or a full blown Ripley type affair? We're tight on funds so it will make the decision for us!

Cheers
Pete

HU Meet Spain 2010 - Update.

Freeee? (say it with a Scottish accent), I guess so, we are small meet, nothing like the size of Ripley. But anyone and everyone are always welcome.

For those that have updated us on their travel plans, we are just coming off the back of mini heat wave, air temperatures in the mid 40's and road temperatures 15 to 20 degrees higher - although there was a noticeable drop today of about 10 or more degrees.

I mention this because:
(a) we are expecting seasonal intermittent showers and the roads maybe slimier than a greased ice rink and
(b) be prepared against dehydration if the temperatures stay high.

On the way back from a local motorcycle meet, dropped into the camp site to ensure that the pool would be open for the HU Meet and yes it will!

SO MAKE SURE YOU BRING YOUR SWIMMERS!

Now I know, that,if people ask me,Why do you go so far for such a small meeting,I can always say: because I know that I am going to meet wonderful people over there, and than it makes no different how far I have to travel. If I go 150 km to my dealer for service and a coffee,I easely can go 2.500 km for a good week-end.
Thanks again.
Chris.

I forgot to post the link to the photo album, doh - Picasa Web Albums - Dakota - Spain Bike Me...

I also did a bit of a write up on our website - Spain Meeting 2010 – before, during & after Moto Andalucia

It was great to see all the usual faces and see a few new ones too.

Chris - Faro next year definitely. I'll be putting details on our website - we'll be travelling with the Royal British Legion Riders Branch. Oh and say hi to Jef and your mum too ;).

Sara - hope your wrist is better now :) and really sorry you couldn't make it.

Geoff - back in the UK with a new bike now eh? How much did it cost you in the end? We ate the profiteroles  - couldn't see them go to waste. Have a great trip to SA.

See you all next year.
