Ill make sure im at the 2008 one and if your stuck, I could maybe do a talk about South America, XT's or mechanics etc !

In that case Ted, you're on my list for 2008.
If the South Americans have never met a Scouser before, they're in for a treat!!!
Safe and happy travels. Keep in touch. :thumbup1:

just a thought - if the HU meeting in Andalucia was at end september or start october 2008 it might tie in well with a trip to morocco at the end of ramadan (I think ramadan finishes 2nd october 2008)

I'm a very inexperienced motorbike traveller but I was suitably inspired by the meeting in ripley in june and I like the thought of riding from belfast to andalucia, getting some expert advice from tim cullen and going on to morocco.

Any other novice travellers feel similarly inspired?

Drew

The weekend before or possibly after the HUUM mite be good as this would mean people could do both events & make a holiday out of the 2 event which would be good for people from further away . I did hear that the HUMM maybe a mid week event next year . If this is so the 2 could fit together.
Kev
Team Avery 7th place HUMM 2007 (pity there were only 7 teams LOL)

Hi Kev,

You may remmber me from Ripley, I had just got my 1100 and we were tented next to each other. Just a quick question did you do the HUUB thingie on your 1100?.

Regards,

colin

ukKev 26 Sep 2007 22:06

Hi Colin good to hear from you.
No had a few probs (due to a crash & drowning the bike 2 days running offroading 2 weeks befor the HUMM) so used a 1150gsa . It coped well with the HUMM but the 1100 would have been better as its not so tall . So if you are thinking of doing it next year then you should it was a great weekend & alot of fun.
Cheers Kev

This sounds like an ideal excuse for me to break my HU cherry.Count me in for the meet in Spain.I've voted for late Sept/early Oct,as that would be the best for me.
Drew, your idea of moving onto Morroco after the meet sounds interesting.Have you any idea's as to time scale?

Andy

My vote is for Sep/Oct.
Some good ideas floating around here...ie: over to Morocco for a blast in the desert after the heat has died down....No Ramadan.....
Count me in tio!

I am thinking GSheaven!!!!

Yep, Moto Andalucuia is in 2 weeks - this is the unofficial event which will lead us into HU Andalucia 2008.

Where abouts in Spain are you - close enough to come down in a couple of weeks? We've got a 40km trail planned for the Saturday - suitable for novices on dual sport bikes.

Whats the current status on this meeting? Should I start booking ferries and work holidays? :) I'm sure I'm not alone in wondering this.

I could do another TomTom Rider presentation, if thats of interest. I've since upgraded to the TomTom Rider 2. Hopefully, by then we'll have some map pages up on the HU website (this functionality is currently in development), and we may even be able to upload the data from your TomTom Rider or Garmin directly to the site.

I had a couple of other ideas for presentations, if anyone is interested in picking up on these.. I know I would be interested in attending these!

- Bike security - a practical demo of how to secure your bike
- Biker First aid
- Bike maintenance on the road (commonly needed maint, tools and techniques)
- Bribe techniques (just kidding, but hey, if anyone has the knowledge, and wants to pass it on!)

Presentatations I'd love to see again

- Roadkill cookout
- Carnets
- lots of others..

Which meeting? Moto Andalucia 2007 is in 2 weeks. All the information is on the website (see link below). HU Spain 2008 is on - we're just debating on the date. I see there's been a couple of suggestions about tagging it onto the HUMM or a trip to Morocco. I'm talking to a couple of people at the moment about Morocco - having the HU meet at the weekend and taking people off-roading, then possibly on to Morocco for a week or so afterwards. HU 2008 WILL take place, we just need to finalise the date.

Presentations - at Moto Andalucia we're having a presentation on 'incident management'. Tim Cullis is doing a presentation about Garmin, so if you can make it, by all means, a TomTom presentation would be good as I know one person attending is a GPS 'virgin'. I'm still looking for somebody who can demonstrate changing a tyre. I really want to keep this year as informal as possible - kind of a 'suck it and see' type event.

Presentations for 2008 are still being arranged as it's still a long way off, but I've already got half a dozen people 'on my list'. Roadkill cookout - can't do it in Spain, there's never any roadkill around - the buzzards carry most things away.

Let's keep this thread alive - I want to know what people are interested in to make it the best event it can be.
