Hi,

Unfortunatley I cannot make it to the summer meeting this year as I will be off to Mongolia :mchappy:

But I heard rumours that there will be another autumn meeting end of october, right? Maybe that´s a good place to celebrate the homecoming .

See you

Björn

El Aleman - Jens 3 Feb 2010 16:37

Welcome end of october!!! Bring pictures...

Hi Björn,

Mongolia sounds great - I am getting jealous...

It is right, there will be a fall meeting end of october, the dates are on the website 29.10.-01.11.2010

Even the Italy Meeting in July is organized by us... the Germans are everywhere...

Have a look, there are some pictures of the location - great farmhouse!

Jens - El Aleman

mj 7 Feb 2010 14:16

Too bad, we'll either still be in the UK or on our way back home that weekend, so we won't make it. We will however come to the October meeting. I can highly recommend it - the 2009 October meeting was awesome, great and almost familiar atmosphere.

Might do a talk again this year, we'll see.

Perfect, Jens! I think I will attend the fall meeting then. It´s a good thing to come home after 6 month and come to the meeting to get new ideas for the next trips :mchappy:

Even the Italy Meeting is organised by you? What about a Mongolia meeting then?

Björn

El Aleman - Jens 11 Feb 2010 19:41

El-Dracho 14 Feb 2010 10:54

OK, Jens. I will see what I can do :mchappy:

See you in October

Hi there,

I'll sign up as soon as my holiday is approved.
I have a question though: is anyone coming who is able and willling to show me how to adjust the valves of a KTM LC4 engine? So far I have been neglecting this (or had somebody else do it for me), but it is one thing I really should be able to do myself...

Best

If you bring the appropriate tools at least measuring the clearances shouldn't be too hard. I think all of the KTMs have shims so you would need them as well, and you can only order them if you do know which ones you need, i.e. after measuring the clearances...

(somebody correct me if I'm mistaken here)

No shims as far as I know. I know more or less how to do it in theory, but I think it would be better to learn it from someone with KTM experience, LC4s can be a bit delicate. Also, it may be different from other engines, I don't know. KTM have managed to make the oil change fairly complicated with two filters, three points where the old oil comes out, two where the new oil goes in and a step of removing air from the frame, so the valve adjustment may be similarly intricate...

El Aleman - Jens 24 Jun 2010 22:35

Hi guys, these Nationalities will be at the Meeting so far...

Hi guys,

I would also be very interested in some kind of good advice to get a deeper knowledge about the very special things of our orange divas (ok, some are green ;-).
Somebody else interested? If we can find some more participants and maybe a willing presenter it would be nice to have a little „KTM Tech Workshop“ (I presume the “beemer fraction” didn’t need some :biggrin3:)

@Jens:
Surely this is a little bit too short dated to get a proper KTM seminar for the weekend, but maybe this could be an inspiration for the autumn meeting ?!?*zaunpfahlwink*

CU on Friday

well I'm on it, why not doing a improvise quick tech-knowledge workshop, if there is any demand for it and there is a hand full of "divas" around, I could give some tech, service and conversion tips...

Will ask Jens to pin a note around the camp, there would be plenty of time to do a small "KTM seminar gathering" this weekend, if there is some interest in doing so, why not :welcome:
by the way... not all LC4 are orange or green... watch out for a plain black one on the camp ground if you got some individual questions... that's my beast...

by the way, I have all the parts+manual books, chassis and engines in form of PDF files with me on a USB stick to share covering all LC4 from 1996 to 2007...

spooky

spooky 28 Jun 2010 10:40

well just to mention it...

regarding the evening Quiz... remember to bring some nifty little donations... yea well in form of "small junk"... you know the stuff you ones bought and never used for your big trip, may some one else can use it, at least we will have some Quiz fun again, throwing this "valuable kit" at the one who got the right answers first...

see you all again in a few days time... gona be fun again... :D

... I have the same for the 690 Enduro and SuMos and I'm known to leave CDs and USB Sticks unattended when drunk...

For whatever reasons local beer works best...

Uuups, did I missed the iPhone app which reads the CAN-bus for troubleshooting??:eek3:

To be serious: many thanks to Spooky for his offer! You are more then welcome to give some "ad-hoc" classes for (actually us 2) LC4 riders at the meeting
How can we support you, which tools are helpful/needed (except of a cellphone :devil2:)??

Cheers
Jörn

Sirakor 28 Jun 2010 23:16

I can do a little demonstration of how to adjust valve lash on the LC4. I'll bring the tools etc, but will need someone elses bike (Peer I guess). A KTM manual bazar sounds like a good idea too.

Now all we need is Jens to stop faffing about with the shower and instead make sure we get to watch the Germany game on a big screen ...

you are all very welcome... let's see what we can do. :thumbup1:

about tools ?
not much needed at all, got all the tools with me on the bike to show you, in case you want to take a selection of your own tools... well just take the most common sizes of spanners and a few alen keys (hex or Imbus), basically a bit more of the stuff you can find in the original KTM tool pack.
well yea support wise a beer would be nice... :D

How to find the HU Germany Meeting...

Hi guys,

just how to find our HU Germany Meeting:

First go for Weinheim or Heppenheim at the so called Bergstrasse(south of Frankfurt). Then turn east into the Odenwald forest, beautiful riding in this area! Our little Gasthaus"Zur Schneeburg" is in a little side valley, not very well known...

So: Weinheim, through the big tunnel, then right turn direction Ober-Liebersbach, first traffic light another right, 10 min. uphill, then little valley to the left - Gasthaus on the right side!

Gasthaus "Zur Schneeburg" 69509 Ober-Liebersbach

Or follow the bright orange HU Meeting Signs!!!

See you tomorrow - Jens:welcome:

Hi guys,

I would like to say MANY THANK´S to Ben and Hanno for all their efforts doing the technical workshop!:clap:
It was a great idea and also perfectly prepared, for sure you both gave us all a real nugget of all your experience and knowledge (even if all the girls only came because of the presenters and maybe not regarding technical issues ;-).

Cheers
Jörn

ps: maybe we can arrange a "how to use your cellphone" training at the autumn meeting?? :innocent:

Sirakor 8 Jul 2010 12:03

Thanks for the feedback, that's great to hear! (although I'm not sure if I should be happier about my apparent mechanical skills or attracting the girls ).

BMW riders only need their phone to call road assistance, I guess they will manage by themselves ;-) But I might put together a bike electrics workshop, hunting gremlins, identifying common faults etc next time round. Watch this space ...
