What you could do Becsta is park near the tree near the pavilion where the camperwagons park and bring along a long power cord and borrow some of theirs

Just wanted to give everyone who is thinking about coming but not yet registered a big shout of encouragement to register. At this stage we have got 40 registrations and I would love to see many more. Early registrations also help with sorting out catering and encouraging vendors.

Also looking for lead riders and sweeps for the off-road loops on Sunday morning. The riders need to sort out a loop beforehand and it would be great if they can chat with the sweep beforehand as well. It would be great to have a advanced off-road loop and a not-so-advanced off-road loop if possible. We've got this sorted for the road loops and just sorting the off-road ahead of time is the last real issue to be solved.

Thanks,

Shane

Good one TS. I hope I can get power from somewhere as these days I travel with so many electric/electronic gadgets. I would probably fall apart if all the batteries went flat and I couldnt use them.

Purely motorbikes?

Hi there

Just wondering if this was only open to bikes or if I could attend in my Land Rover.

it's proven itself with a trip around Africa in 2008 and now resides here in QLD!

2 ride the world....almost there!

Hi guys.

just thought I'd let you know that we are making our way to you now and will definitely be there for the meet.

We are currently in West Timor and in the next few days will be heading on up to Timor Leste to catch the ship over to Darwin.

We will be giving our main talk on Saturday night and also a photographic workshop!

cant wait to finally reach Australia and share our journey with you there!
cheers!

Ben,

Land rovers more than welcome, come on down. One of the best presentations we have seen was the story of two couples and their Toyota Landcruisers across Mongolia and Siberia. Don't forget to register.

Thanks,

Shane

Smile Feeling battered.

Shane,

I now may not be able to make it to the meeting. I've just had the classic Australian motorcycle accident - a 'roo landed on my front wheel when I was doing 80 km/hr. Needless to say the landing was hard and I'm now stuck in bed with a broken pelvis with a quote of 6 weeks until its healed. Hopefully I'll be sufficiently mobile again by June to get there one way or other - but thought I should give you a heads up.

All the best

Martin

Martin,

Very sorry to hear about your accident. Must have been terrifying and painful for you. Hopefully the kangaroo is roo..ted. Thanks for the heads up and let me know if there is anything we can do to help. My guess is that the bike is fairly bad as well.

Regards,

Shane

Shane,

Thanks for the thoughts. Too quick for it to be terrifying. Yep I think the kangaroo probably suffered more than me - 200+ kg barrelling into you at 80 km/h is a lot of kinetic energy.

The bike survived remarkably well - a bit scuffed down one-side and an indicator gone, and maybe forks slightly bent but I was still able to ride it home to Newcastle (but couldn't get off at the other end - that's another story).

Currently still hoping to make the meeting - just hope I heal fast.

Good luck with the organising - I know unpredictable presentors like me will be but one of your challenges over the coming week. Hopefully see you in June. If I don't I'll at least finish my notes so they can be handed out to anyone interested.

Paul D. Thanks also for your thoughts. I don't know if it counts as roo-venge, but one of my sons cooked tea for me when they discharged me from A&E - it was kangaroo stew.

Owe you both a if I make it to Daybro.

Martin
