your ideas and mods: basic Honda maintenance schedule/repair manual

Hey all--I need something from you. I'm a gringo in South Africa with an agricultural bike called a Honda CTX200 Bushlander, 2004. Also sold in Australia and NZ. Problem is, can't get a repair manual anywhere and can't find out some basic info.

1. Right now, does anybody know what the valve clearance should be on such a machine? (a local mechanic thought maybe "4 thou, Imperial" but was guessing and having never checked valves before, this didn't help much!

2. So, could someone please post (or send a link to) the maintenance schedule for a small newish aircooled Honda XR-ish one cylinder, please!?!?

3. And can anyone tell me how in the world I can get a repair manual for this bike?

I've contacted Honda here, tried a couple shops in Oz and even HondaUS. No dice. Anybody know somebody who knows somebody? I can cut a check in the US or pay by cc.

Every Honda dealership will be able to assist you by getting you the original Honda workshop manual for your bike.
Very often they will tell you that they are not allowed to sell the manuals retail which is bullshit! They just run a job creation programme for their own mechanics.
The original manuals are not cheap but definitely worth their money as soon as you want to venture beyond regular maintenance.

look up the xr 200, its been made for decades, try 0.15mm or 0.006 inches exhaust and 0.10 intake.
The manual for a 1978 ,2000 model years says 0.05 itake and 0.08 exhaust. I would try the bigger gaps first just for safety.

I saw a XR200 at my local Honda dealer today. Same engine as the CTX200.
