XRV 750 rear wheel lacing.

I know most of you riders would rather send your wheels out to be laced and pay through the nose to have it done for you, but I am notoriously cheap and am willing to put a little sweat equity into my bike.

I have experienced difficulty in determining where the spokes are placed in the rear wheel of my @. There are three lengths and they are only a mm or two difference in length.
Does anyone have a reliable pattern to follow. Nothing in Haynes and a couple of internet sites with parts diagrams are wrong and confusing.
Every time I think I have it right and try to true the wheel I run out of threads on some spokes indicating that they are in the wrong location.
Yes. They are new spokes and I have measured them and checked the lengths against the removed spokes and, yes, I have photos of the wheel before I removed the original spokes and, no, just assembling the spokes so that the threads don't show doesn't work.(There are always spoke threads that show during assembly.

Ok there's the challenge.
I'm getting a little frustrated and I have walked away from the job a couple of times now to cool my jets.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Bill
