XR650R Gearing suggestions

Has anyone got any gearing suggestions for a heavily laden xr650r.

I want the bike to cruise well at 70mph but still be able to cut it if the going gets rough offroad. Im currently running a 15/43 which is fine for road at the moment.

we all ran 15/45 in Africa and Australia. it has so much torque that it can still cut it without changing down a gear, but that's obviously an option.
the Paris-Dakar guys I met were running 15/41, but they're not really cruising.

I find standard gearing is best for heavy soft sand, gives better slow speed control and tremendous power 'on tap'

but its really annoying for road work!! too revvy (rich has better advice)

acutally you can run a 15 front and change to 14 if you know youve got a few days of deep heavy sand ahead. its quite quick to change and you dont need a new chain
