XR650L Sahara Tank?

Will the Sahara Tank by Acerbis mount on an 08' XR650L? I'm looking for maximum fuel capacity + prefer the looks of the safari tank. Will it work on the L or just R? Taking my bike to West Africa for country-wide rides. Thanks for your help.

a tank for the water-cooled xrr won't fit the air-cooled xrl cos the fins are too wide. that and the frame is totally different. check out www'overland-solutions.com for ways of mounting a pair of 10 litre tanks in front of the panniers. I was lucky in that I got a 40+ litre acerbis tank so I didn't really need the extra 20. how about fuel bladders or 5-10 litres in a can INSIDE your panniers? or get a fuel tank made as a one-off ... if you can find one of the Paris-Dakar tank fabricators ...

Keep an eye out on eBay, including both US and europe. Eventually an XR/L large tank will come up, even if it's a Clarke. I had the acerbis 24/26L tank, and a 10L jerry in the botttom-front of one of my panniers. Worked very well. :-) My XR prep pages have gone down at the moment, but this is the large tank "in action". Between us, Wright Bagwell, Rich Lees, Chris Scott and others have done everything you can do to an XRL, and many people (including me) have leart lessons the hard (expensive) way. Ask questions!

There is an Afrika tank too,30 liters

I remember have seen those tanks on LC4 and TT600 on.Its just a two filler caps tank for all big bore singles. Just the adjusting plates used to change a bit.Reworking is necesary.
I have a 40 liters Acerbis on my 650L
You need to cut the seat and relocate a few things. But nothing too dificult.
This is the resulting work(done in 1994)and still riding in 2008.
