XR650L : Price range in UK?
What sort of price range does the XR650L fetch in the UK?
From what I've read around the forums it should be possible to import a new 650L from Australia, pay the shipping and taxes, etc and get change from £4500. At the other end of the scale I see a '94 model on eBay at the moment that's going to fetch more than £1250. So is this the realistic range of prices for a stock 650L? I ask as I'm off to Aus for a month and have seen what a ripoff renting a bike is over there. A cunning plan has begun to hatch where I would buy a bike and ship it back to the UK at the end of the trip. Would probably go for a 2nd hand bike so that someone else has already been through the destriction process. Idealy a 2/3 year old bike with low miles. Apologies if I'm spamming the wrong forum, and thanks for any input. Iain |

£4500 might be doable. mine cost 4100 OTR in 2002 when the exchange rate was 2.9 cf 2.5 today. that included airfreight, clearance, duties, VAT, registration.
I think they have recently closed the type approval loop hole so you'll need a test, now. derestriction isn't a big deal as long as you have the tools and jets. |
