xr650l fuel tank

Hi
could anyone tell me if the original fixings for the fuel tank on a 650l need to be removed to fit an Acerbis 250, 600, 650l.
It is used and has no other fittings. Do I need others? Do the indicators need removing as they snag or is this a sign that it isnt correctly placed?

I have the 22l acerbis tank installed on my 650L. The tank uses the original rear fitting, but with a suppied bracket. I fabricated a new bracket that moved the tank back about 20 mm to get full lock.

The tank is supported at the front by two brackets that used to be for the fairings. If you don't gusset these brackets, they will break with the additional load of the tank, depending on how hard you use the bike of course. Adding rubber washers under the brackets helps as well.

There is also a supplied bar that bolts onto the frame and supports the middle of the tank.

The indicators needed to be moved. My tank was supplied with two small metal spacers. The indicators are moved up so they are supported by the top bolt only. The spacers then fit under the head of the bottom bolts so that they don't protrude through the triple clamps and score the tank.

Hope that's of some use to you,
Matt
