XR650L Acerbis Tank

Just a quick one. Has anyone personnally fitted a 22L Acerbis Tank to there 2002 (or there abouts) model XR650L. I am currently fitting mine. I have managed to fit the tank on after many mods to the mounting kit that comes with the tank(which looks suspicously like my old XR600R tank) and also the original tank mounts on the bike frame. I have had to remove the regulator/rectifier from the forward right hand side of the frame so the tank goes on. My question here is, where is the best place to remount the regulator/rectifier? Now I am told by the supplier here in Australia that our XR650L's are different from the USA XR650L's which the tank was designed for.

Much help here would be gladly appreciated,
Fles

the difference between USA and Ozzie XRLs is only down to homologation: the Ozzies remove the rear foot-rests and, if you're in the wrong state, stuff a washer in the muffler and weld the baffle in.

back to your question ... I fitted the old 43 litre tank and put the regulator on top of the frame. I had a plate welded on so the regulator could use that as part of its heat sink. I think the connector was to the rear. it worked fine.

Thankyou for your info. I thought about welding a bracket on as I was sure regulator/rectifiers generate a bit of heat(hence the cooling fins) and zip ties where out of the question, as suggested to me by the distributor.

Cheers

I put the 40 Liters tank too back in 94.And still on!I used the lower bolt from the original place it is put.You have two screws to hold the rectifier. So put the upper hole in the screw from the bottom.
Placing it about 8 cm lower will have mor ventilation. No welding!
