Good point. I'm not sure what jetting the Australian and European XRRs come with.

I can tell you that the American bikes come with a highly restrictive intake manifold, and some of the air inlets on the airbox are blocked with rubber plugs.

If I was going to use this bike for overlanding where fuel conservation was important, I'd leave it stock, but adjust the jetting so that it doesn't run so lean and hot. Even stock, this bike makes tons more power than the XRL.

The overheating this bike experiences is supposedly due to a lean pilot condition, but as mine's never overheated, I can't verify that.

Hi

This is all very good, but no-one has really made much of a comparison between the XR600 and the XR650.

On another note... I'm in the UK and I have only seen XR650R's are the 'L' models grey imports or what?

Cheers

Dan

If you mean XR600R vs. XR650R, have a look at www.thumpertalk.com in the forums. Seems to get covered with monotonous regularity there...

Yep. Never available in Europe, where the NX650 was the chosen bearer of the engine in question. Lots have been privately imported from the States and Australia though

No probs.

In a nutshell:

XR650L = XR600R chassis + NX650 engine
XR650R = all new, no shared components.

XR/R has ally frame and hi-compression liquid cooled engine, for about 10-15 more bee-aitch-pees. Designed to win Baja and compete in the Dakar.
