XR400 idle speed
Hi everyone, I'm having some problems with my 2001 XR400 - it starts fine but then the idle slowly creeps up as it warms up and after about a minute it's far too high. I can turn the idle screw to lower it again but wondered if anyone might know the cause? I've tried overhauling the card and adjusting he valves and that didn't seem to make any difference.
Would be very grateful for any suggestions. Pete Last edited by peterandnick; 5 Jan 2010 at 21:48. |

Hi Pete,
Google "Honda XR 400 idle creeps", up and you will see your HU post and under that another post someone has the same problem and seems to have cured it. Check posts at other HU technical posts seems others have Carb problems , must be some crook fuel over there. or is it the winter ills and chills. At the first opportunity put a small throw away fuel filter in the line saves a lot of drama. Kind regards Champ ![]() from OZ |
