XR 650R replacement stainless exhaust help
 

Hi there,

My stock exhaust is quickly rusting through due to winter use on salty roads and I am keen to get a new stainless steel system but am put off by any that advertise a big increase in performance because thats not what im after. Does anyone know of a simple but good looking system which makes no more noise than the stock can? preferably one that has no massive logos on it (ie. FMF) and doesnt shine like the sun, as i dont want it to detract from the bikes looks. It may sound fussy but to be honest I would prefer to keep the original if it didnt rot so fast.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There's not really a whole lot of options available in the UK, and because the bike has now been discontinued (and was never a huge seller in comparision to MX etc bikes) most of the aftermarket guys have stopped producing systems for the 650R - getting a silancer should be easy enough from old shop stock, bu the headers you'll proably have to take what you can find.

Don't be fooled or worried about 'massive performance increases' - most of that is pipebenders bullsh!t... That said, the 650R actually has pretty skinny headers as stock, so a few extra mm on the head pipe is actually a good thing, and isn't going to make the bike into a monster - just put it 'back' to how Honda would have liked to sell it in the first place I imagine...

I'd have a look on eBay, or see is XRStuff have anything left on the shelf perhaps?

I have a local silencer manufacturer who will make a pipe to what I want which as you say is usefull for trail come road bikes i don't think your ever going to get a Stainless system that isn't going to be shiney after all that what it is but the silencer can be as quite as you want give me a PM or a ring if you still need something.
