Which engine might fit easily?
I like my XR. light, nimble simply built but functional. Basic aircooled design etc and staggeringly good MPG. My only gripes might be the torturous seat that my Argenbtine sheepkin has tamed quite well and the fact, as stated in another post here, the ludicrous oil change interval. Needless to say a bit more power is always nice too.
So, as the seat is sorted, I want to hypothetically sort the engine power thing! It does not help that I am a compulsive tinkerer, even if the tinkering never even leaves my imagination!! What aircooled lumps do you reckon would would fit an XR4 frame and still make a good functional motorcycle. My first guess is the XR600... any more?

Its light because it has a small light aircooled 400 lump in it. A bigger engine adds weight which means the frame might need bracing and reinforcing, again adding weight.

Or you could go the tuning route, fitting the HRC 440cc which would give a top-end boost. But that would result in a much higher Compression Ratio of 11:1 which would generally require higher-quality fuel.
