What to look out for on a 1999 A/T
Hello all,
I have not had an Africa Twin before, and have limited knowledge of motorbikes. I am looking at a 1999 machine with 32k showing. It looks in good condition, and the current owner said ha has had no problems with it. he said it is a great machine, and I will not be dissappointed. he is asking 2200.00 for it. What should I look out for, and is this a fair price. It is standard red / white / blue. 'vette |

Obviously do all the normal checks when buying a bike but...
Check the wheel rims for rot, especially around the spoke and valve hole. Check the mainshaft/front spocket - too much chain tension buggers the bearing double quick. Everything else is a relatively cheap fix but rather than go into all the details, have a look here Honda Trail Bike Forums The price sounds fair.

Hi only other things are fuel pump contacts burn together change for facet pump , and front disc's get very thin , main thing is rims they rot from inside out can be difficult to see give spokes good tug and check for loose ones ,also check front sprocket hasn't been welded on
any wear on mainshaft is split engine cases to change if you can find sorted one they are good bikes capable of high mileage
