What is 2 old?
I can get a XL500 for... well almost free. But the motor is seized en the frame is bended. It is a 1981 model. Is it worth the effort to repair?

Age is almost irrelevant, what is important is the condition of a bike and availability of spares.
From your description of the condition of the bike, it sounds like complete scrap. DON'T DO IT..!!

Advertise it for spares, there's demand for parts from similar bikes that are no longer available new.
