Urgent help with 80 xr200 rear axle removal please???

Hey folks, feel like a bit of an idiot asking this. Any bike i've ever had,I simply undo the nut on the rear axle and then tap/slide the axle out the other side. This 80 xr200 is the first drum brake machine i've had. So when i remove the nut on the left (chain) side and try tap it through it won't slide out but just spreads the rear frame. On the right (drum brake) side theres a bar which seems to pass through the axle. I'm sure this is some kind of an adjuster but doesn't seem to matter how I turn it it seems to do nothing and I can't remove it. Can anyone enlighten me please?

Sounds like the spindle is seized into either the bearings or the brake drum plate...or both. If you have time on your side, start soaking the brake back-plate area where the spindle passes through with something like Plusgas or parrafin. Don't worry too much about contaminating the brake shoes as they're dirt cheap to replace and if things havn't been apart for ages will most likely need doing anyway. After a week or so of doing this, try again using a suitable sized drift and a hammer to tap out the spindle, avoid damaging the threads if possible. Once it starts moving, tap it back again and get more Plusgas in there and work it back and fore a couple of times then it should come out eventually. Keep at it, it'll come in the end!
