Transalp 650 questions.

Hello All,
Couple of questions on the xl650v Transalp. I've owned lots of Honda's, and some have been known to have 2 weaknesses. The first is iffy Camchain Tensioners, and Regulator Rectifiers.
Are these also a potential issue on the Transalp?? On My Firestorm, I fitted Manual CCT's, and a later model Reg/Rec. Not sure if these are necessary on the Tranny. Also, while I'm asking, what do owners feel to be ' helpful modifications ' to make this very capable machine that little bit better for solo touring. I already have a taller screen in mind, and a topbox. Other things on my list of possibilities are Engine bars, and some form of frame to keep soft luggage away from the exhaust, possibly a givi one, unless there's a better alternative. I would also like front spotlights for that extra attention grabbing when dopey car drivers dont look properly, but they seem so expensive for what they are. Are there any on the market that are reasonable money ie., Not £200+.
Many thanks in advance,
Lee. London/Essex Borders.

When it comes to crash bars I use a set from Heed. A polish Company.
HEED
Good quality and they do the job well.
They sell their crash bars thru E-bay.
If there isn't an auction online for you just mail them and they will put one up.

When it comes to cam-chain tensioners the Transalp has a different design then some other Hondas and therefore they aren't as vulnerable.
Regulator Rectifiers are the same Honda quality as the rest. But when you change it, change it to an aftermarket one. They are better.

Otherwise I recommend on getting progressive springs for the front fork. They do miracles with the suspension. No more bottoming on big bumps.
What brand you choose on the springs is not that important, just get a good pair.
