TA Comfort

I'm looking to make my 600 TA a bit more comfortable for long trips, especialy two-up.

For the seat, Airhawk, Corbin etc are too expensive so I'm thinking of replacing the foam in the standard seat, which will allow me to lower it a bit also. Now I know firmer foam is supposed to be the way to go but how firm? Is there a grading system for foam? What do you ask for when you're buying it?

I'm also considering raising the bars slightly. Good idea?

I've tried a taller screen but found it very noisy and the buffeting was pretty bad so I put the original one back on.

Has anyone tried any of the above? Any other thoughts or suggestions?

You might want to try the Transalp mailing list for these questions: the members have lots of experience of these matters.

Crusty,I cannot help with the seat or the bars but I have the same problem with my screen. The bike is a 600 TA fitted with a tall screen which flips up at the top edge,it may possibly be a Powerbronze one.Even at low speed the wind noise is terrible. What I may try is carefully cutting it down a inch at a time to try for some improvement, failing that I may get a standard screen.

B&Q perspex for £10
Put in the oven laid over origional to get the shape 200C (minute or so that's it)
Cutt bottom to match origional and bolt to the bike like the origional
try riding with a very tall screen then cutt it down to suit

go to far and it will cost another £10

I had the best luck with the Givi Screen on my TA. When I originally bought my TA it had a tall Rifle screen which would blur my vision at speeds over 60mph. But windscreens are tough to dial in, what works for one person may not work for another.
