Suspension specialists in London.

Can anybody recommend a good suspension specialist that can make and install a new back spring for my '97 Transalp? I am planning a long trip two up and therefore this modification is quite crucial.

I am currently talking to Setup Engineering in Wandsworth, but it is quite a small operation and they seem really busy.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Namsa.

Good lads

Try Hagon in Hainult:

They may well be able to help. I've been riding on one of their rear shocks on my AT for the last 20k (5k off-road), heavily loaded, two up and it's been fine. It was also half the price of an Ohlins unit...

Thanks for the vote of confidence in them Mark, I am actually in conversation with them now!

Did you get a new shock and spring done for your AT? I am considering getting just a new, beefier spring done with the existing shock.

Also, more or less how much did you pay if you've done both? Need to see if my budget will stretch that far!

Thanks,

Namsa.

Hi Namsa,

I got a new rear shock off them (with remote adjuster) which came in at about 350ish GBP (from what I can remember).

I also picked up new progressive springs and oil for the front forks, which came to about 100 notes.

I have used HM Racing to rebuild my rear shock and front forks, very happy with the service quick turn around and nice guys. Might be worth giving them a ring .
I think they mainly deal with race bikes but if you know what you want they should be able to help.

I did use Hagon in the end, and in terms of service you can't fault them! The staff are very knowledgeable and their prices seem reasonable as well. They respoked my wheels and supplied me with a new shock unit to beef up my suspension for our two up trip. Now it just remains to be seen if it will survive the trip!

Just a word of advice, don't take the tube there as they are located miles away from the nearest station!
