Short rider XR650 Question

I'm 5"6 with a 30" inseam and have my heart set on an xr650.
(if I can't work it I'll have to settle for the DR650)

How much would I be able to lower this thing without it looking
silly? (you've seen the photo's that look like umpa lumpa bikes)

I was thinking of dropping the forks an inch - hopefully
scooping an inch out of the seat and then gain another
inch of sag when bike is fully loaded.

Has anyone a similar height as me lowered theres?
do you have any pics?

I realise it's not essential to flat foot, but My route's take me over alot
of rickety single log bridges and one toe touching down is hardwork.

You can also get lowering links.
Available for example from Kouba Link
and probably other places as well.

My mate sat next door is about the same size as you and he copes with an XR650R no problem, though most of the time he only gets one foot on the ground. He has the suspension set as standard and it sags sufficiently when he sits on it. His weight helps compress it (i'm being polite here!)

He hasn't made any other mods to lower it.
