S/S filters any good?

Hi I saw an article about Filters recently the gist of the article was that the paper filters let small metal particles through. the article calimed that the only way to truly filter the oil was to use a stainless steel gauze filter available at... my question is Has anyone used one of these and are they any good?

I use an SS filter in my XR650L. I like it a lot, especially becuase I never have to worry about carrying spare filters or finding replacements. It's a very practical thing to have for travel.

As for how well it works - I can't say as I haven't done any scientific tests myself, but the manufacturers claim that they are much better than paper.

To clean, I sometimes use gasoline and swish it around in a clear empty jug of water or I rinse it in hot water and dish soap several times. I watch for metal particles settling out in the plastic jug and when they stop appearing, I then let it dry and reinstall.
