ruff running
 

got another alp and managed to fix it up to my spec for this summer. i thought it was the chain adjustment at first as there was a lot of vibration. after sorting that it's still vibrating a bit. ive looked at the drive chain/sprokets and have recently chainged oil and filter, it now seems to be running rough or at least vibrating a bit more than it was. it is 36K miles but the engine pulls bette than a 650 i tried.

any ideas? only thing i can think of is carb sync but surly that wouldn't cause vibrations when above 4000rpm?

any ideas appreciated.

bike is singing fine now. Person who had the bike before me must have replaced one of the chain adjusters which was a different size to the other one and so wheel alignment was out causing terrible noises. Simple but due to the number plate hanging down over the wheel it's hard to look at the alignment. here comes an enduro mudguard!

What do you intend to do to your TA? Just curious - I always fancied getting an old one and stripping it to a similar spec as the original, more off road concept.

2 options really

1) Just riding it and keeping it up together as it is and modifying a dommie as a travel bike.

2)Project Alp; which involves replacing fairing with aluminium ones, enduro pipe, engine strip and rebuild, crash bars, AT tank etc.. Oh and rebuild wheels-that would be a new bike then!
If i were to buy a newer bike I'd still like to modify it and therefore spend quite a bit or more.
