XR650R with akrapovic full system and big tank...

HI

I have an IMS 27l tank (i think, see pic below) i went to fit my new Akropovic full system exhaust and it fouls on the bottom of the tank (near the radiator)

As you can see in the pic the headers are much bigger.

I am looking at a Acerbis Sahara 24L, does anyone know if this is compatible? if not which big tanks are...

thanks
Douglas

Might be easier to get the exhaust re-worked a little.

This company is very capable Mark Hill Performance

Thanks BYT...

I've spent some time looking at the picture you attached and i'm really confused.
To be honest i'd really rather leave the shiny new titanium headers as they are and get a tank that fits.

hi. i have a pig with a 27ltr ims tank and it looks different to yours. the front shrouds contain petrol. your look like they dont. anyway that doesnt help with your prob. i am posting to let you know that i saw a 24ltr acerbis tank on ebay last night. it was sat at 100 quid. may be worth buying if it is cheap enough to see if you can solve your header problems. good luck and that zorst looks very nice by the way
cheers

It's just a picture to show what he can do. If you look on their website, you'll see some really pretty work. I'm sure it wouldn't cost too much to "move" your headers a little.

@Oz Sounds like the same tank, the fuel goes all the way to the bottom with a scavenger pump on the left to take it back up again. I was watching a tank, it went for £160 in the end. I should imagine this one will go for more! Its near me so i might be able to measure it up first ... thanks

@ Touring Ted That was my initial thought. It pushes the shroud up and out by a good half inch. I decided that exhaust pushing petrol was a bad plan. Hope the plans for the trip to Cape town are going well...
